Huckabee On Gay Commitment

Here's his attempt to explain why he's not a bigot:

"What one's sin is, means it's missing the mark. It's missing the bull's eye, the perfect point. I miss it every day; we all do. The perfection of God is seen in a marriage in which one man, one woman live together as a couple committed to each other as life partners. Now, even married couples don't do that perfectly, so sin is not some act of equating people with being murderers or rapists..."

Wow, Huckabee misses the mark every day, just what's needed in a president.

Rhetorically, he's a lightweight that huckabee fellow...

What scares me is you could be looking at the Republican nominee for president.  When you think about it, America is not going to elect a Mormon (no offense to any of you who are LDS), Giuliani is too New York for most of the country and McCain, while well respected, is pretty much viewed as too old.  Fred Dalton Thompson may be the smartest of the bunch but he doesn't do very well without rehearsals and a script.  I just hope that we aren't witnessing the birth of Nehemiah Scudder here (see Robert Heinlein's If This Goes On

Hopefully none of us will need bother about who the Republican nominee is. Hilary or Obama will beat any of them (wish, wish.)

BTW, is Huckabee a relative of that blue cartoon dog I saw as a child? Huckabee Hound.

Speaking of cartoons, I cannot look at Thompson without seeing Frankenberry.  Spooky.

If, "The perfection of God is seen in a marriage in which one man, one woman live together as a couple committed to each other as life partners," how come god is a polyamorus triad?

We beat them the last two times for all the good that did.

Reminds me of a nasty broadcaster trick -- get access to the teleprompter script and change it so it turns to nonsense or worse yet, obscenities.  Most rip-and-read actors won't catch themselves until too late.

...just a thought...

<ahem>

Huckabee is hung up on/turned on by procreation, that's what I think.

I'm rereading 'The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress'.  Trying to get ready for coming events.  >:D

You're not the only one who is thinking that way.

Big smiles at that....a good question which God shiftily avoids on all chat shows I've seen him on.

Okay, I was going to be quiet, but since you started it...Edwards is the only one who has addressed GLBT issues (T is what I care about, of course), except for some things that Dennis K has said.

Hmmm....*thinks about the result of conservative republican power so far* and decides if this country goes from that fiasco to voting in another conservative republican who trumps GW because this one is an ordained baptist preacher (Huckabee) then I'm moving back to Canada.

Actually Obama addresses it as well in his stance on civil rights.  He includes it in his proposal for tougher hate crimes and anti-discriminatory measures.
