Hi everyone!

I am Kwaku (that's the name I've chosen for now) and I am a senior in high school, so I do have quite a lot to learn. While I go to a boarding school New England (I am on financial aid), I live in Toronto.

I think I began suffering from gender dysphoria while I was going through puberty (puberty slapped me at a very young age), but I didn't think of myself as trans because it had been drilled in my head that transgender people are "spitting at God's face" for "mutilating" their bodies as my parents would say. It wasn't until my freshman year of high school that I acknowledged the possibility that I could be trans, but I was still kinda in denial about it for most of that year, and it wasn't until that summer that I accepted myself as trans. I came out as non binary the beginning of my sophomore year to all the people at school, and everyone around me was pretty accepting given that the school I go to is pretty liberal. However, I couldn't (and still can't) come out to my family because of their religious and cultural background. Sometimes, I feel like I have to choose between my identity and my family.

I am pretty certain that I am not cis, but I don't know if I am non binary, transmasculine, ftm, or something else. I am just going through this journey one step at a time, and I hope I can make some new friends here!
