Pretty stoked. Shes supposed to be very good. It'd be great to hear some opinions from people who've used her before.
I have a pretty intensely physical job and 90% of my day is spent looking up. Not sure what this will do for my healing time, or scar minimization..

Thoughts? tips?

I had Dr. Spiegel do mine and it was the most affirming choice.  He uses a glue rather than stitches and of course you have to be careful about pulling on the incision for a little while, but it does heal fast.  After a year my scar was unnoticeable except upon a real close look.

I know you'll love the results.

I haven't had this done yet, but I hear good things about Dr. Toby Mayer in California. He also does voice modification surgery.

Fortunately I dont need any work done on my voice.. Im just nervous about having enough of a reduction so its significantly smoother neckline without compromising the voice I worked so hard on attaining..

Hi Angela, I'm about to book with Dr. Jennifer Anderson in Toronto too.  Like you, I too am worried about compromising the voice I worked so hard to attain.  I tried googling reviews for Dr. Anderson, but all I could find were two ->-bleeped-<- posts saying that they were disappointed in the results because she was too conservative.  That's possibly a good thing in our case because we really don't want anything to happen to our voice.  But in your post you mentioned that she's supposed to be very good.  Did you hear that from others who had the procedure done with her or somewhere else?  I'm just trying to gather more information before making the decision.  If you can let me know anything you've heard about her, that would be so amazing!

Funny you should comment now. I had an absolutely HORRENDOUS ordeal using her, and am still going through it. I will have to have it redone.

You shouldnt have to worry about your voice. She hasn't yet seemed to take anything off..

I have a nice scar though.

Hopefully your experience will be different..

I'm so sorry to hear this.  So she wasn't able to make any reduction AND you have the scar?  That's horrible.  When I was there at my initial consult many months back, she was talking badly of other surgeons too.  She was saying something like "oh those plastic surgeons, they don't know anything and they can easily damage your vocal cords" -- basically putting the fear into me that going with anyone else would be a risky move.  But it sounds like SHE's the risky one!

I really hope things work out for you, I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

Shes an ENT, not a plastic surgeon, her first and foremost prerogative is preservation of your voice/breathing/airway.

All said and done, a simple in out, local anaesthetic procedure that shouldve only cost me about 750$ CAD is now costing me 4550$ CAD total (original and revision.) I'm still debating telling her where she can go, and waiting for my SRS this summer to have a REAL surgeon do it..

I'm hoping if I just go with it, I'll have significant reduction, and preserve my voice, cause I like my voice, I get a lot of compliments on it (weird, I know.) But I'm kinda losing faith entirely.

And yes, I have a GHASTLY scar. Going to be even worse, as she plans to use the original incision for the revision surgery.

Was gonna ask about about scars. I had it done. Did not know about options for incision location so now I have an obvious scar. Others have had it done with the incision under the chin and you can't tell it was done. If only I had done FFS with a good surgeon.
If I ever offend you, let me know. It's not what I am about.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles.  My doctor used a camera and a probe to determine exactly where the voice box was so he didn't trim too much, but as much as he could.  My scar (whats left of it) is up fairly high so it's not noticeable at all.

You might consider biting the bullet and going to a plastic surgeon for the revision.

The mentioned tissue adhesive was invented in our labs.  The idea was to be able to close wound with creation of minimal scar tissue.
But even if you have scar tissue you can make scars almost invisible with proper scar massage.

If any interests is found in the process of how to massage a scar to leave it as little visible as possible, please let me know

Cool, I didn't know there were other options other than Brassard in Montreal. He and his team were amazing.

It was recommended to me to buy those Vitamin E gels. Pop a hole in them, squeeze the goo onto your scar. Mine healed within a year.
2007/8 - name change, tracheal shave, electrolysis, therapy
2008 - full time
2014 - GCS Dr. Brassard; remarried
2018 (January)  - hubby and I moved off-grid
2019 - plan originally was to hike PCT in 2020, but now attempting Appalachian Trail - start date April 3.

Round two finished. I have a slightly better feeling about it when she herself says shes happy with her work.
Better still, being refunded most of my fees that werent necessary, because the anesthetician I paid for but didnt use was a super nice gentleman and did everything he could to make sure I got it.

Her secretary though, wow, baller dropper extraordinaire.

We'll see once the swelling goes down.

Shes also using me as operational experience and taking extra precautions with future patients in the future to avoid this, which is also cool, so yay me for changing things for everybody for the better I guess? lol
