Stopping HRT to bank sperm?

I know it's YMMV, but has anyone done this successfully? If so, how long had you been on HRT, and how long did it take you to regain fertility?

I was so sure when I started (about 9 months ago) that I never wanted children. Unfortunately, my mothering instincts have since kicked in with a vengeance...thanks a lot, estrogen. I know that having biological children is not the only way to build a family, but I kinda wish I could have the option.

I'm worried about the effects of going off HRT, and I'm afraid it might be a pointless risk because it's possible I wasn't even fertile to begin with. I have androgen insensitivity syndrome, so I really don't know whether my sperm is even viable. My body is noticeably under-virilized, so I really wouldn't be surprised if I turned out to be infertile. It would be awful to lose all the progress I've made on HRT just to find out that I was never capable of reproduction.

For those of you who did go through the process of stopping HRT and banking sperm, was it worth it? How bad was it to go off hormones? Did you need fertility treatments of any kind?

Dear Grand_Allegro_Girl:
I do not have the answer you are seeking but there should be other members here that will have experience about the things you asked about.   In my case, I banked sperm before I started HRT.  I do know that everyone is different and you may have some success.  Certainly your doctor can test your sperm to see what if any action you will need to take.
