A little info. I am retired military and am receiving my care from the VA.  I have a civilian therapist on the outside and I have a VA Therapist on the inside. (Different healthcare systems)

My VA therapist recently asked me to sign a wavier form allowing her to talk to the other therapist. Hmmmmm? Whats going on hear?  Does this sound right? Are they going to compare notes and gang up on me?

Maybe I'm over thinking this.

I just got cleared to start HRT and am waiting on my econ appointment......now this.    I'm worried they are going to turn off the HRT consult.

Any advice welcomed.

I think both are trying to keep their liability risk cut and dried Their liability insurance may also force them to either take on full responsibility for the patient or not at all. ie not shared responsibility.

Kind reagards, Kirsten.

This is not a liability issue. It is a privacy issue mandated by law.  :police:

If you eventually plan on having genital surgery, you will need two letters anyway.

If two trans friendly therapists want to talk about me, I let them, with my blessing.

My therapists are my advocates.  I trust them, or I wouldn't have told them all that good stuff about me.  Sharing information means that they have a more complete picture of me.  That's good.

They need your permission to share information.  If you are nervous about what they might say, ask them what information they want to share.  "Hey, Dr. A, what information do you want from Dr. B?"  "Hey, Dr. B.   Dr. A is going to ask you XXX about me.  What will you tell them?"

My therapist is so pro me and pro me becoming a woman, it is always fun to be with her.  I would never ever be afraid that she would do anything she feels I would not agree with!
