Roy Richard Grinker discusses the classification of transgender as a mental health disorder in this New York Times article. Based on the recent decision of the World Health Organization that gender identity is not a mental health issue, he questions why the APA (American Psychiatric Association) has not undertaken steps to align with the WHO.

This is old news and may already be posted somewhere but it supports the argument that dysphoria is not a mental disorder but is instead the way in which our brains have developed... we truly have a female brain in a male body and regardless of chromosomes or our sexual organs... no amount of psychotherapy or pills is going to be able to change the way our brains have already developed. You might as well have a conversation with a person with one arm and try to convince them that they actually have two arms and it is all a mental disorder to think you only have one arm.

How true!

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.
Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Be brave, be strong.  Try a little kindness.  I am a brown eyed brunette.
