Hi all!!!

I was wondering if anyone has switch from Premarin to Estradiol?

I have been on Premarin and Spiro Since July of this year. I love the effect i have been getting so far physically and mentally.

The only reason so far why i'm thinking about switching hormones is that Estradiol is $20 cheaper and comes in generic form. My insurance from work covers most of my prescriptions cost.

giggles, i dont really care that Premarin is mare urine. (I'm an alcoholic in recovery i drank much worse than that).

Hi Robin (beautiful name :))

About five years ago, my insurance company stopped paying for Premarin so my endo had to switch me to Estradiol (generic Estrace).  My breasts started to hurt once again even though I had been on hormones for many years prior to Estrace; other than that, I didn't experience any other major changes whatsoever.

True, Estradiol is much cheaper than Premarin and it is not made hurting the poor horsies!  :)

Hello, Robin,

I started my HRT on oral estradiol and it did well by me.  Some estradiol plus an androgen blocker like spironolactone and five years and I am grateful for my results.

There are many articles on the web concerning the safety of premarin in the human body.

For insurance purposes, estradiol tabs work for me.

They are very hard on the liver, they have many chemicals which can't bind with receptors or be used by the body because it doesn't belong there!

Although many get results, bio hormones put much less strain to the bodies organs and they seem to be best suitable to the human body since it's naturaul! honestly I don't think plant hormones are naturaul because they are for PLANTS not humans!- 17b estrodial is they best  ;D

17b Estradiol (Estrace) IS plant based.  It comes from SOY BEANS.  Its natural because the human body processes the plant based estrogens from Soy as close to bio-identical as possible.  Also when taken sub lingually it goes directly in the bloodstream bypassing the liver.    Its called natural because the amount of processing and how the body reacts to the hormone.

^ LOL wow, thanks for letting me know that! I really didn't know that though. so hold on a minute, how come regular soy like herbal hormones are ineffective while Estrofem is effective?

Because of the chemical process involved.  Estrace is still a pharmaceutical.  A chemist designed it.  Those herbals are ineffective because of the processing.  Estrace is basically optimized to use a specific chemical component of soy and ONLY that component that the human body recognizes as estrogen.  Okay, that is overly simplified explanation.  Its basically chemistry.  Its one specific molecular structure concentrated as supposed to an herb.

ohhh, I get it, so they take one molecular structure of soy that's identical to human E and the body regonizes it as no different, so it's metabolized and processed the same way as human E in genetic females.

that right?

I was on horsepee for a 8-9 months. It did some things. However, it made my legs always feel achy. I didn't feel too good on it after those many months, so I switched to Estrace and I felt much better and I also started to notice a lot more changes . I've been on Estrace for 7-8 months. It seems to work for me, with no side effects, and I feel better over all. Plus, I swear I changed a lot on Estrace vs horse pee.

Just to be clarify this, the identical estrogen is not already present in soy.  The plants contain compounds that are used as the raw material in synthesizing the identical molecule during a manufacturing process.

I switched Hormones to estadiol the pills. The first thing i notice is the price. I used to pay $30 for horse piss (giggles) Now i pay $6.71 for estadiol. That's awesome in my book.

I switched from horse pee to estrace, and I find estrace is better. The horse pee and me didn't get along for some reason -- I'd get strange cramps at night (like achy legs), I'd get hot flashes, and I'd get a weird feeling in my legs and arms. I don't know what it was about those pills, but they just didn't agree with me. With estrace, I've had no health problems and no weird feelings. I feel much better on them.
