When you take a vacation trip, do you...

Be your female self 100% of the time?  The last trip I had I did, except at the airports, to avoid some potential issues.  I have not had a legal name change.

I think it is good to get away and just be yourself and enjoy life.  After all, after you do complete your MTF or FTM transition, this is how you would be living your own life.  So I try to apply that line of thinking to me.

Enjoy your next vacation!

Have you taken a week or so to have this real life experience, if you have not completed your transition?

I never take vacation (holiday for all you non-us people) trips. I HATE travelling. I have enough friends from all over the world that I never feel the need to leave home. ;D

Hi Chrissy

What Lori said above.  If you have read my story you know that one Christmas Dec 1988, I was on holidays from work and I travelled across Australia as Sarah.  I arrived in town called Townsville on the north east coast of Australia and I spent a whole week as Sarah, visiting various places around town.

This remains one of the most enjoyable holidays I have ever had and unlikely to be surpassed.

I did not have my legal name changed at the time and goodness knows what would have happened had I been asked for ID.  I would say to you, change your legal name and move forward in your life.  If things change then you can always change your ID back.

It most certainly is good to get away and be yourself and I assume you enjoyed being yourself the previous time that you have gone on holidays.  I know I did the first time Sarah was set free.

Have fun in the sun and remember no photos, else it did not happen as Danielle would say.

Love and Hugs

Travelling across Australia, or across the US... is mad to us Brits who live on a tiny little island. That is an insane holiday just because of the distance. It's mad for me to even try to wrap my head around those kinds of distances when you can drive probably to the furthest corner of the UK in what you Aussies consider "Driving to the grocery store!"

That just blows my mind. Is it at hot as people say it is, Sarah?

I haven't gone out as male in over 10 years now. Even been through TSA's machines that make you stand a certain way and still no issue. Only time flagged by those machines was when I had an ankle that was twisted and swollen as a result. Hugs

I wonder if the Summer Olympics in Salt Lake City 2028 will be toasty.  It can get into to the 100s this time of the year there.

Pretty area though, the state has so many fabulous places to visit.

Oops they are for the Winter Olympics....
It can get cold there in the winter, which I guess would be good!

Thought Salt Lake City is the 2034 winter. Next US olympics is Los Angeles in 2028. I wouldn't be shocked if they are rather warm in LA. Hugs

Hi Sephirah

What can I say to that? Huh?  Well lets start with, "Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun".

No wonder why English men and women for that matter of fact will not travel from north to south, east to west even in their own country.

No wonder why I left old Blighty.  My motto is, "to go where no man has gone before", yeah thats right, one of my dreams is to pilot a space ship and travel to other galaxies.

"To explore strange new worlds.  To seek out new life and new civilizations.  To boldly go where no man has gone before."[1]  Thats me.

Temperatures across Australia range from 40oC (104oF) to 0oC (32oF) at least and below.  Alice Springs is one place where this temperature range can be experienced.  So yes it is hot somewhere in Australia.

You are not wrong Australia is a tough place to be and we are tough Aussie buggers.

If you don't mind me asking, Sarah, where are you in the most lethal, beautiful land of oz?

Are you in the very hot "Yeah we are toast unless we have 500 volunteer firemen to stop all the trees exploding!" part of the country?

Don't need to say anymore than that if you don't want to honey. I've seen Black Saturday. It makes me extremely sad. I worry about you girl, because I know how unforgiving it can be down there.

Hi Sephirah

No problem Sephirah, I reside approximately 200km North West of Brisbane, capital city of Queensland.  Yes, it is a beautiful country and yes it is lethal in some ways to the species that are prevalent.  However, using ones common sense, there is no danger to one per se.

Temperatues for me would range from about 30oC (86oF) to 5oC (41oF).  so a nice comfortable range.  We do have reverse cycle air conditioning.  So here in Australa we tend to be comfortable wherever we are.

As for 'Black Saturday" fires which occurred in Victoria Australia.  I will say this and leave it at this.  The stupidity or ignorance of some people, are responsible for this occurrence.  Why?  Bush fires have been the norm in Australia for centuries before 'white' settlers came to Australia.  They were deliberately lit for various good reasons, by the Aboriginals that lived here.

However, because generally no back burning or maintenance of forests occurs, in this present day and age.  The under brush builds up and eventually one spark and you have infernos that can not be controlled.

So, it not only makes me sad at the senseless waste of lives due to these fires.  I'm mad that they are allowed to happen.  As I said, this is all I'm going to say on this matter.

Anyway, I will come over there grab you by the 'hair' and drag you back to Australia and show you the beautiful country that Australia is.  It's better than miserable old England!

Oh one other thing I'm a big girl and I can look after myself  ;D  ::)

I am not going to lie, Sarah... I have seen the sheer guts of you folks in the south. Watch "Gallipoli" With Mel Gibson and Guy Pierce. You have literally the most sorcerial belief in that you had some idea what to do. It's not fantasy... it is the  best of us working how to be the best of us.

Well I'm not going to lie to you either.  Having the guts to do what I did, I just don't know.  I just did it, without even thinking about it, although the previous two Christmas's gave me the impetuous to do more of the same.   Even the two Christmas's before I changed my life around.  I still do not know what made me do what I did.

This includes, what I have highlighted in red, in your quote could actually be the reason as to why I did what I did.  I just wanted to do it.  It was the case of 'Sarah get dressed', so I did, nothing stopped me, not even the little bit of nervousness that accompanied me the first time around.

If you or any other member on Susan's can allude to the fact, beyond the fact that I'm female, then I'm all ears.

Not even going to try.

You are who you are. You are who you are because you are who you are. As obvious as that may seem... it's not obvious for everyone. That is is for you is testament for you. <3
