Dressing to respect myself

The idea of "passing" is talked about within the forum and I wanted to take the opportunity to express my opinion. I recently came out MtF in November 2018, accepting my female side and beginning the process of questioning how I make the journey to a new and better me. One of the things I have been doing is buying clothes, usually at second hand shops, but a few basic pieces from retail stores. My goal for now is to dress more feminine with "signs", meaning clearly feminine items. The idea is clearly not to pass as a woman but to express myself in a way that I can honour how I feel about myself.

I have learned through Susan's Place that we move through this journey at our own pace. I'm at a stage right now where I need to express myself through different clothing. Did I tell you I love scarves?

A scarf is the simplest garment there is.  But you can do a hell of a lot with just a scarf.  It can make a huge difference in presentation.

Trans folks sometimes make the mistake of trying to change themselves from the outside in - accepting some particular socially-determined standard of appearance and trying slavishly to conform to it - sometimes with painful effect.

What I like about your look is that you are changing from the inside out, using changes to outward appearance to express more about who you are on the inside.

You should keep us updated every now and then as you experiment and develop!

I'm probably misinterpreting what you're trying to say, but I have to disagree... Often how we feel and what we've endured internally is the reason we want to change outwardly... I know appearance evolves at different phases in transition, but how will someone know if they enjoy a binary gender role without crossdressing?
Genders are pretty stereotyped... Otherwise you're nonbinary at best or just a male wearing women's tshirt or jeans...
And there's nothing wrong with that either!

Did I tell you I love scarves?

You can do a lot with scarfs, many women have a thing for scarfs and will have a whole collection of really expensive scarfs, right along with purses and shoes.

You can easily liven up an outfit with a well chosen scarf.
