Hi,

Just curious if anyone else experienced any period-like symptoms during HRT? I've been on HRT for five months now (5 for estradiol and 4 for progresterone), and lately I've been waking up from pain on my breasts (it feels like I can feel them growing) and stabbing pains in my lower abdomen. My body has also been feeling rather sore as well. Emotionally, I'm okay though I do have small moments during the day.

My wifey thinks it could be period-pains since this is what she gets. I was also told by a doctor months ago that I'd begin to have a cycle of sorts, but I wans't prepared for this.

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this too?

What androgen blocker do you use? Some blockers can cause initial muscle soreness at the start.

last week into the first week of every month for the past, hmm, 6 months I think.

The most recent was real bad, dysphoria kicked up plus the monthly. I don't think I'd seen anything so bad since I had two teen girls in the house ... and I couldn't escape it. It was so bad it gave my wife symptoms.

But I'm feeling much better now
I left the door open, only a few came through. such is my life.

I've been on Aldactone for the last four months, it was prescribed to me by the endo I was seeing at the time. I say seeing since I may have to rethink my options due to finances.

I think that progesterone may cause period like symptoms.  It seems that people have to stop using it for one week of the month, and that this would almost feel like a period.

Yes it sounds very much like your Progesterone. I take Oestrogen twice a day at 10pm and 10am and Progesterone at night. I have never taken any blockers. My latest assay tests has my testosterone in my system as just under 0.52 nmol/l.(normal female levels), with my  Oestrogen levels at 163 pg/ml . I am getting my Progesterone levels checked next week.

Originally I was on Progesterone continually, but whilst a lot of things were very welcome (more visceral fat on the buttocks, hips and thighs, bigger upper pole breast tissue, better libido and much more pronounced aureole , I found it very cloying and for the last three months have been on a cycle of Day 1-16 Oestrogen only and Day 16-30 Oestrogen and Progesterone. But I now  get PMS like issues around the 15th of every month. Finding myself, moody, lower abdomen pain and very tender breasts. After 1-2 days back on Progesterone everything is back to normal.

One thing to note though that I have found is that if for a few days I don't get to take my Oestrogen , I get nightly sweats. My endo says that suggests too low oestrogen (like post menopausal women).

When I got that last December, my Endo doubled my dose for a few weeks.
