"Law kept gays from leaving

I truly feel sorry for Diane Gramley, president of American Family Association of Pennsylvania, and her need to use fear to spread her lies (Erie Times-News letter, Jan. 2).

The reason Erie County amended its antidiscrimination ordinance was not to cause "homosexuals and cross-dress-ers" to flock to Erie for jobs. It was to keep the intelligent, articulate, educated and otherwise gay, lesbian and transgender residents of Erie from flocking away from the fear, hatred, bigotry and ignorance that obviously still exist here. Please. "Changeable orientation?" Get a grip on reality, Diane."

Ack!!
