LGBT supporter to retire from Congress

A good friend of the LGBT community in Congress, Representative Tom Lantos (D-San Francisco), has announced that he will not run for re-election. Lantos, who will turn 80 next month, made the announcement January 2. The decision was prompted in part by learning that he has cancer of the esophagus.
