I'm seeing an endocrinologist on May 1st! I'll be taking a letter from my counselor confirming I'm an hrt candidate. I'm using the va, so I'm hopeful this won't take too long. I visited the local lgbtq center today, and had a great conversation with the director! I finally feel like I'm getting support. Today was a good day.

StephK,

That is great news!  I am happy for you!

Chrissy
Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

Started HRT April 17, 2019.

Hi Stephk,                               09 April 2019

Welcome to Susan's Place; I'm the Good Humor Lady, the one that posts jokes that aren't funny.

I noticed you mentioned using the VA. I also use them for some things. I was in the VA system several years before my transition. One of the members here at Susan's suggested I try to get the VA to supply my Estradiol patches. I tried and they started supplying them. The doctor I had originally been assigned to didn't have a clue about Transgender, which made dealing with him a bit difficult. I transferred to the Women's Clinic and things got better. All the doctors there are Women. I did get bounced around a bit (back and forth between Women's and men's clinics) until I sought help from the VA's "Patient Advocate," she got things squared away quickly.

Since I don't know where you are located or how long you have been in the VA system, I can't recommend a specific VA facility. If you are in the North Texas area, the Fort Worth Outpatient Clinic is quite nice.

The net, net is the VA will treat you and supply you with the meds you require. I don't think they will pay for surgery you may want transition wise.

Good luck with your transition.

Best Always, Love
Christine

Thank you all! I'm near Syracuse ny. The va there is ok.. I'm just looking forward to starting hormones.. I've waited so long for this.. I know there are a few others there, so the endocrinologist should be familiar with how to move forward..
