Hi I'm new to this forum, so I kind of desire to transition, I've just recently come to terms with how I feel about my gender. It didn't take long for me. Only about 3 months. I've already started talking to a therapist. I'm not sure I'm transgender, I've never worn women's clothes before except for underwear, the main reason being that I live in a small town and practically everybody knows me, so everyone will notice if I suddenly start wearing women's clothes. But I've go no body dysphasia only a strong desire to transition. But I guess part of me is, ashamed of being a man. Thiats how I feel and it took,a lot of courage for me to open up. I hope my feelings are okay.

Hi Kristianvoorhies, and welcome to the Forum! There are no set criteria for transition, we do it or not, for a whole range of different reasons. Work with your therapist to find the cause(s) of your desire and assess what is the right path for you. Don't be afraid to ask for opinions on this forum, as there are really good therapists and some not so good, and you may need to try a different therapist if it is not working out for you. Learn lots and find a better you!

Welcome to Susan's Place. Dysphoria takes many forms so it's best not to compare what you feel with what somebody else feels. On the other hand, usually it pretty clear to somebody who has experienced dysphoria to see it in somebody else. In your case, you seem to be somewhat uncomfortable in the male role and you're happy in the female role. In my book, that's dysphoria.

Hello Kristian and welcome to this wonderful website.

If you are ashamed of being a man and have a strong desire to transition, then it appears to me you may indeed be transgender.

I suggest you consider seeing a gender therapist to help to explore your feelings.

I wish you success whatever action you may choose to take.

Hugs

Pamela
