Unfortunately, it is far too easy to track someone down given a callsign.
By the way, hams can go to the FCC online registration and trivially change their name. I was not required to submit ANYTHING, and did it the day before my court appearance to change name and gender. Once updated it gets pushed out to various online databases automatically.

Thanks Michelle, I still have my dead name with FCC, and it's kinda of embarrassing

, it's like the last thing in my social transition needing work and I do want to update this, it's coming due for renewal in a few years, I might just wait till then. As far as operating on the air, I do sign "Cynthia or Cyndi" on CW in QSO's, I know this technically "outs" me, but in the grand scheme of things, it's nothing. Ham radio is a great hobby, I am into emergency preparedness to some extent. Love CW and weak signal work, have all the DX countries confirmed here. My latest antenna I put up last winter was a 90' top load vertical for 160 ! out in our trees. You can't see my antenna farm from the street, I hide the VHF / UHF arrays behind the house, I like being "stealth"....
