The TV show Good Girls

Ive been watching the the TV show Good Girls.

One of the women on the show has a daughter that dresses like boy. Always wondered while the show has been progressing if the daughter was supposed to be FtM , there has been little hints in the show as it progressed and now its in its second season. Her child has come out as FtM and they are also working on getting puberty blockers and touching a bit on how to do that without insurance and being lower income.

This portion of the show is not the main focus of what the show is about but it is nice that they are bringing the issue forward in a more gentle way that brings light to the struggles of transitioning without it being so in your face that the more conservative viewership will keep watching the show without raising to much of a fuss.

Really like that the issue  is being brought forward more and more in the entertainment industry and its not that big of a deal just a part of being human and not everyone is alike and its ok.

And before its said  yes it is big deal to us that go thru it but to others it will be nice when its not a big deal when someone transgendered crosses into their circle of life and they react the same as they would with any cis gendered individual treat them with the same respect.

Yes this is a very worthwhile point. Everyone should be treated the same whether cis or trans. As you say No big deal when a trans person comes into contact with anyone, should be the expectation.

That day is coming. 20 years ago being gay or lesbian was considered to hold the same stigma trans holds now. These days gay/lesbian couples are just part of the furniture...

Yes I would agree we are now at the same position in society as gays and lesbians were 20/30 years ago; they were sadly disapproved of by a fair proportion of society but more of them went public and after some campaigning, society and thinking and culture gradually changed such that by 2010 only a small minority of bigots disapproved of them.

Secondly we know it not sensational or a "big deal" to be trans but as recently as this decade there are still some parts of the press/media that think it is. Just ten years ago if a transitioning person wasn't careful they could find themselves exposed/outed by a journalist chasing a story. Now this is less common but still happens. We are not "showy" or "making a point"; we transition simply to be ourselves.

I see both the "anti-reaction" and the "big deal" to be diminishing. We need a little more visibility and we shall gain recognition and respect throughout society. We are making progress. Society takes time to adjust. We will get there!

I agree with both of you , I believe and hope that im right that for the transgender community the acceptance or tolerance if you will come much faster than for the LGB movement. When the LGB rights and movement first started it was groundbreaking and was a much harder battle because it was first.

  Because the T was added to LGBT we get to start from a different place than the LGB movement and because of the hard work of many for LGB rights  millennial's are much more accepting and most  take it in stride.
