Hi everyone, I have just joined Susans. I was led to this forum because I have been googling tracheal shave surgery and haven been able to get much out of it, more of this surgery comes from Susans and it then led me to one of the surgeons here in melbourne which I had then got him to operate on me. However, I have so many questions about it and I dont know where I should go to ask about this. If anyone have knowledge about tracheal shave please, if you can answer my question?:

Its been 6 days since my surgery and I have noticed that my adams apple only getting bigger and not smaller. I feel like much of my adams apple arent shaved down. I got it done in Melbourne by the same surgeon.

Am I thinking too much or is it normal that swelling occurs even after a week?

(my neck looked quite flat right after the surgery and then my adams apple started looking bigger day after day). I feel like much of the pain is gone and i no longer have sore throat so i thought my swelling is gone and probably this is my final result)

Are you also based in melbourne and have undergone this surgery before?

Welcome Booyagirl! I'm from Geelong and no surgery yet so can't really give advice other than a call to the surgeon's office might be better than information you might get here. Most surgery involves some swelling, but swelling can also indicate a problem. Pre and post surgery instructions usually include care and signs to look out for. Hopefully it's just normal post surgery swelling and will go away. Remember, everybody is different, so what works for someone on here, may be no good for you.

Welcome, you will find many awesome folk here that can share or answer questions you have.  Regarding the shaving procedure, I have no direct experience but it is common with most surgeries to have the potential for swelling or inflammation to occure.  I expect that you should see the swelling recede soon. If not, it's always best to consult a physician.  Any advice we give here cannot replace a medical professional.

Best regards,

Bea
