All of the sudden they were there, but the pain comes and goes.

It's like I woke up one day and they were there (Breasts), my nipples are pointing outward and hiding them now is becoming harder. It seems my hips are growing or getting wider. I'm just a little excited I guess.
It didn't seem anything was happening well except the pain in my nipple area. This seems to come and go for a month at a time. Is it normal during growing periods and then for it to go away for a bit?

Congratulations Corrina!
The girls can be sore.  Mine go through periods of intense itching and swelling during growth spurts.  They are typically always tender.

First of all - congrats!!!

I've just completed 6 months on HRT.

Breast tenderness ebbs and flows.  I simply started wearing bras full time about a month into HRT.  The extra layer of covering eased some of my 'intense neurological' responses to a bump or rub.

At roughly 4 months I realized my male cut jeans were getting very tight in the hips (at the same time the waist was loosening up from intentional weight loss.)

And this month the first couple of bras were retired as too small and the first two pairs of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans were retired as too big.

What your experiencing is pretty normal.

Corrina, it's a pleasant surprise isn't it! I was coming up 2 months on HRT, and feeling a bit cheated, no itch or soreness, so I was about to tell my endo the dose must be wrong. 3 days before my appointment, my wife came in as I was getting out of the shower, and said my right breast had grown noticeably. That was the first time I had critically looked at them, believing I would get other symptoms first, but I was definitely growing! A week later I was on a higher E dose and now I'm having short periods of itchiness and localised soreness. All part of the ride!

mine are at a point of not sore at all (occasional tingling and erectness, I wonder what that's from?  ::) :P )
They do not like being bumped or squished!! I have to adjust any hugs.

Yesterday at the chiropractor I had to make her stop long enough for me to shift down a little until they were settled in the crack between the bench cushions. By her words I would suspect that she didn't know why, I'm sure she did though and was being polite :)
I left the door open, only a few came through. such is my life.

Okay okay so i'm AFAB but I can confirm, yes, breasts love to randomly hurt.
Welcome to womanhood.

I believe it's caused by estrogen levels. In women who are menstruating you get cyclical breast pain as part of PMS which is caused by the surge of estrogen that happens around the point of ovulation.

When your body is adjusting to the new hormones you are basically going through puberty mk 2, and yeah, the tissue growth coupled with estrogen just being like that can cause tenderness.
If it gets too awful a warm compress can sometimes help but ultimately i've found over the years you just have to put up with it.

It SHOULD settle down with you ladies though, because your hormone levels should be fairly stable once all the puberty changes have finished.

I STILL get the dang pain because my body is dumb and overproduces estrogen so I feel ya on it. I got a week of reprieve this cycle before they started to hurt again. *sigh* sometimes I also get the shooting sharp pain in the nipples too. I don't know what that is, just that it happens. It's like glass in the nipple or something, owww. No hugging, no touching, no sleeping on my front. Eugh. I guess it's easier to handle when you WANT the boobs though hahah.

If I remember puberty mk1 with breast growth, nipples also can get super sensitive and chaff far far easier so be aware of that. A little camisole will help if you're not at a point you feel you can wear a bra. Something soft anyway, so they aren't rubbing against anything coarser. Chaffed nipples are... really painful. I don't recommend it.

When they are REALLY sore, sometimes sleeping in a maternity or sports bra is actually the best thing I can do. Keeping them constrained stops em wobbling about and thus reduces the pain. I mean even small ones wobblea little when you move and if they're excessively tender, sleep in a soft t-shirt bra. t-shirt and post surgery bras are the best omg. Sooo comfortable.

But yeah, it's a common female complaint. Estrogen is a wild ride heh. Congrats ladies on the desired changes! How exciting. It never ceases to amaze me how effective hrt IS. It's like magic!

Make sure you wear appropriate attire when in the ocean. Wave can rub you raw in a male rash guard. Especially if you surf or boogie board.

I wore a male rash guard the summer I started HRT ( 5/28/2013). I learned the first day how incredibly painful nipples can be when rubbed raw by a rash guard.

How long have you been on HRT?  I've been on it for just over 6 weeks.  While my breasts are definitely growing, there's no pain yet.
I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

Started HRT April 17, 2019.

Yes Corrina, it is absolutely normal for the pain to come and go and for the itching to come and go and to have erect nipples at times. Welcome to womanhood!

Hugs
