I've kind of been having a rough time at work at the nursing home lately. Things that don't necesarilly have any thing to do with being TG although some are. So I just need to vent a little.
A week ago we had a nurse working with us from a different floor. I haven't worked with her except maybe once like a year ago. So there we were getting report from her and she asks me in a short rude manner "so what do I call you, he or she". I of course respond "she". I mean like how obvious do I have to make it. I've been full time for at least 6 months, i have obvious breasts, pretty curly long hair, wearing makeup, my nametag and gatebelt have my new name on them. How dense.
And then tonite we were down to three people on the floor for like 30 people. which doesn't sound bad except that they are all pretty intensive to care for and have demensia to boot. To fill you in most of doors are locked during the day, but at nite the soiled linen closets are open so we dont have to be bothered with constantly unlocking it. The keys are kept on those little keyboxes with the pushbutton code next to the doors.
So I'm totally running behind getting people ready for bed and one of the "security" people was checking the doors etc. I was headed right for the soiled linen closet with a handfull of clothes and some full garbage bags and he walks by and LOCKS the door to the linen closet right when I was like 5 feet away. >

He looks at me with a smirk and says "these are supposed to be locked" and then goes about his merry way.
What an ass, it was totally obvious where I was headed and he could have easily waited two seconds to lockit or if he was feeling really generous even (heaven forbid) hold the door open. On that note all I have to say is that it is really discouraging that CNA's (thats me) who take care of peoples loved ones get treated like SH**; From the administration, families, pay scale (sucky, people at McD's make nearly as much) etc. And they wonder why there is always a shortage of healthcare workers.
Any way despite all that I do love what I do.
