Hey ladies, my name is Olivia. I'm 25 and am still in the closet (hoping that will change). I'm still trying to make sense of who i am, but what i do know is that i am a woman. My gender doesn't change who i am. I'm split down the middle between a nerd and a jock, love computers, and i love sports. Trying to work up the courage to tell my fiancee that she will be marrying a woman not a man. I have told her before but she believes that it is a phase, and that i am a man. What she doesn't know is that while i am romantically attracted to women, my sexual attraction lies with men. This is a little messy.
I like to keep things short and sweet, so there is my little introduction.

Stay fabulous,
Olivia

Hi!

    Welcome Olivia!

Chrissy
Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Hello Olivia

My name is Sarah B and I would also like to formally, Welcome you to Susan's Place!

That's a nice introduction that you have made and I'm smiling from ear to ear, just reading what you have written about yourself and a very nice posting as well.

Quote from: Spallown on May 27, 2024, 11:04:19 PMHey ladies, my name is Olivia. I'm 25 and am still in the closet (hoping that will change).

That is a very famous name you have and of course a strong one as well.  The most famous Olivia's that come to my mind are Olivia Newton-John, Olivia de Havilland and Olivia Wilde.

You have mentioned that you are still in the closet and I have just recently written a post in regards to that particular issue.  If you click on the following link: Staying in the Closet you can get to read what I wrote if you want to and the other members here on Susan's who also made a posting.

If and when you decide to reveal yourself, make sure you have a backup plan just in case something goes wrong.  One recent member is in a similar situation and not everything is alright.

I have always known who I am, I have always been me and the only thing, that Susan's taught me was that I was a female and have always been a female and that was when I was about 51 years old.  You are right my gender never changed who I was.  I always longed or wanted to be a female and when I was 30 years old I changed my life around and had surgery when I was 32 years old.

You are not the only one who loves computers, sports (I love swimming) and is a nerd (mathematics teacher).  Not so much a jock, I sensing that jock is in reference to American jock's?  What you do, love and like is up to you and it makes you who you are.  However, it does not affect your gender.

I will leave "telling your fiancee", up to other members who have been in similar situations and those experiences have ranged from total rejection to total acceptance.  One cannot treat this issue lightly.

I also like women or females before and I was not romantically involved with them and I was not involved or attracted to men, however, I did enjoy the company of a couple of men.  When I had surgery, well that was a different story.

Please remember that members from Susan's Place come from all over the world and we do not have just 'ladies', we have the full spectrum of gender diverse people as well.

Once you feel comfortable here, it would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself in the various forums and threads.  I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new about new members.

In addition members of Susan's will more than likely come along and discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most have experienced these as well.

Take care and all the best.

Once again, Welcome to Susan's Place!

Hello, Olivia!

Welcome to Susan's Place. Thank you for your wonderful introduction.

As others have pointed out, your hobbies and interests have no bearing on gender -- so enjoy them!

It is not uncommon to have one set of romantic interests different from sexual preference. And neither of these has anything to do with gender. Gender identity, sexual preferences, and even romantic preferences run a wide spectrum. They are not "binary" as many believe.

I am curious if you have a therapist with experience in these matters. If not, I would look into it. They can help answer questions that you or your fiancee might have. They can guide you through the obstacles of transitioning if that is the path you choose. They can even help your fiancee understand what you are going through. Perhaps if she understood what it means for you, and her, and the two of you together, she can better decide how she wants to be involved. A therapist can help you sort those out.

If you are so inclined, check out the Member Blogs. You may find many people's stories that are similar to yours. If not, perhaps you could start your own blog where we can check in for updates to see how things are going in your world. Share only what you are comfortable with. This is a public and all-ages forum.

Again, welcome to Susan's Place.
