Happy Birthday, Jessica!

I hope you have something special planned for your special day. Do something that you haven't done for a while, like NOT driving.  ;D

Hi Jessica

Just another day, I hope all your wishes came true for this special day.

I hope you get a lot of presents for your birthday.

What type of cake are you eating and are you going to blow out all those candles?

Best Wishes Always

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes!

We drove to my dad's house Thursday evening and began searching for personal items, documents, and photos which we should retrieve. There were also a few small corner tables Susan wanted. After loading everything Friday morning we went home, ate lunch, issued a rather large wire transfer, then took our other car back to my dad's house.

The wire transfer was to cover the 'cash to close' for our new home. The title company said it usually takes 2 - 3 hours to get confirmation. I waited, and waited, and waited. At 5:00pm I called the title company, they didn't have confirmation of the transfer. I called at 5:30pm, still no confirmation. I called at 6:00pm, the person at the title company asked for the tracking number of the transfer. After about thirty minutes, she called back. There had been some recent updates to the process used for wire transfers, and the two banks involved in the transfer were the two banks having the most trouble with the change! However, she was finally able to verify that the transfer was successful.

We had several visitors at my dad's old house on Saturday and Sunday. The last of the old cars was hauled away. Someone else filled a small trailer with assorted car parts, and another frequent visitor bought a few more pieces of pottery. We didn't collect much money over the weekend, which confirmed my decision to make it the last weekend of never-ending garage sale.

Sunday afternoon, the new owner and his wife visited. We talked for a few hours, and I showed them around. I tried to give them as much history as I could. I gave them my set of keys to the house. After they left, Susan and I made another pass for photos and documents, then loaded our luggage and said 'goodbye'. As we pulled out of the driveway, I locked the gate for the last time. I've been able to call that place 'home' for forty seven years, but now it's home to someone else. Time to move on.

I didn't get a chance to celebrate my birthday yesterday, but I was able to close down my dad's old house. I still won't have much 'free' time though. About an hour ago, Susan and I signed the documents to purchase our new home. I expect we'll be moving in late September. It will be great to live near our friends in Colorado once more.

Love always -- Jessica Rose

You are definitely busy! Once you get settled in here, things will calm down a bit.

You'll need to adapt to our afternoon siesta tradition.  ;D
