I decided to make a couple of phone calls, because I am in the system, and whala I have a appt with the intake nurse Aug 7th. I am now with Mayo and the only location for surgery is in Rochester MN which is not close to me - but doable none the less. The initial appt is to start the process with them. I will more than likely be given a long list of To-Do's and To-Dont's as well as schedule, logistics etc. I know I have a lot of work to do physically and mentally to get myself ready. Based on this I have created this thread to document the journey.

Hi Rebecca

That is good news and I hope you can get what you want or wish for.  I hope the do's and don't's are not to onerous on you and I know you will be physically and mentally prepared when the time comes.

A very poignant quote from D. . . !  Yeah I'm a fan.

All the best from down under.

We have decided to have a orchi first before bottom surgery. This will give my body time to adjust which should assist with the overall recovery time for bottom surgery. My orchi is scheduled for Aug 21, 2024. I am extremely excited.

Congratulations on getting the process started!  I hope all goes well for you.

I had my intake appt this morning and we are looking at 12-18 months out. Which is good and bad. In one had I am in the queue. Which is totally awesome. In the other hand I am 12-18 months out. My approval letters will need to be refreshed which is manageable. I will also need to complete my name change etc etc etc. But I have timing. I just realized (seriously just now) that this journey is no longer "if" it happens to "when" it happens. I am grinning ear to ear inside.

Hi Beccy

I just want to clarify that you are going to have an orchi first, which you mentioned is on the 21st of August  2024 and your GRS surgery sometime between 12 and 18 months from now.  Is that correct?

Well you certainly are on your way to achieving your dreams and that is the most important thing that can happen for you.  Judging the way you are expressing your feelings by 'grinning ear to ear inside".

My feeling at the time was just 'relief', that my first psychiatrist gave me my last surgery letter that I needed.   It was a case of book the surgery date and then I had to wait another 9 months for it to happen.  Time just flew by as I was so busy living my life and next thing I know it was all done and dusted.

I hope things go well for your surgery, name change and of course your future.

Love and Hugs

SB - Yes the Orchi will be first and then the rest in 12-18 months. 'Relief" is a good way to express how I am feeling. I just need to keep my wits about me and get my stuff done. Take care of business as they say.

Hi Becca

I did not realize how quickly your surgery day came around so quickly.  So I'm wishing you all the best and your surgery goes well.

Look after yourself as you recover from your surgery and when you are able to.  Please let us know how you are going.  Before you know it and hopefully you will have that final surgery, that you so desire.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and all the best for the future.

Love and Hugs

Hi Beccy

When you have the time, I would like to know which name you prefer to use?  For example is it Rebecca, Beccy, Becca, becca.anne or something completely different?  ::) ;D

I always like to address people with their correct name.

Here is the long and short. My orchi did not happen as something was noticed and additional imaging was required and surgery will be rescheduled. I completed the imaging and I am waiting for the surgery date. I will be getting more details when I speak to the surgeon. I want to scream, but I understand and agree with not throwing caution to the wind.

Sara B - When I typed Beccy was a typo. Becca.Anne I prefer, it is less 'official' than Rebecca.Anne.

Lori Dee

I'm sorry it didn't go as planned.

Hopefully, it will be a minor glitch and nothing serious.  :eusa_pray:
