Sylvia-Red

Hi. I had to make a new account so I thought I'd say a little something on my way in.
I went by Sarah-Red, and since then I have a new name I took the chance to update it xD.

Not sure how active I'll be but I felt like checking back in here. There's still plenty of trans stuff that I feel like is worth talking about.

I hadn't been on the site for a while and one big reason has been that I felt inadequate as a trans person, and I was sensitive to things in general but also because of feeling like I'm not doing enough in some ways, but I've relaxed a bit more now and not putting that much pressure on myself now. I also want to be easier on myself because the world is hard enough to live in xD.

I made slow progress over the years but I don't go out of my way to try to think I have to pass. I look queer but I don't wear makeup and often just wear tshirts with different kinds of pants I like. I sometimes go out of my way if I'm going 'out' to wear something prettier but I still don't do a whole lot, though I'm still on hormones even, though haven't gotten much breast growth. But that's not the most important to me anyway. I'd love to pass and wear dresses and all, but I also don't want to rock my boat, or I'm not ready, and I feel that's ok. I'm less insecure about it all now.

Anyway, hi everyone. Hi @Sephirah. Hope you're all doing decent.

Dear Sylvia-Red:
I recall your earlier time here on the Forum... and I am thrilled to see that you
have returned after several years.
              WELCOME BACK

Please take some time and look around and read the various threads authored by many of our
members ... you will find discussions and testimonials that will certainly be of interest
to you as you continue on in your life endeavors.

As you might be aware, the site experienced a site crash on January 1st this year and much
data was lost including member accounts, postings, private messaging, etc.

Through what seemed to be endless work, our staff has done a great job in piecing things
together again to very quickly have a fully operation site even though much of the lost
data appears to be unrecoverable.

Some things have changed here on the Forum since you were last here... you should
read a couple announcements that were posted after the crash:

The Foul Language and Respectful Communication Policy
                https://www.susans.org/index.php/topic,247168.0.html

... and be certain to read the revised and updated Terms of Service rules for the site.
As we embark on this new chapter, we urge all returning members to familiarize themselves
with our updated Terms of Service (TOS), which are vital for maintaining a respectful,
inclusive, and safe environment for everyone.
You can review the new TOS here:

Hello Sylvia!

Welcome back to Susan's Place!

Thank you for that wonderful introduction, or re-introduction.  ;D
It sounds like you just needed time away to try to sort things out for yourself. That is perfectly understandable. I think we all have times like that. Hopefully, things will go more smoothly for you.

As you know, you are always welcome here. It doesn't matter if you are here every day, or just checking in now and then. Know that we are here for you if you need to vent, get advice, or just need a virtual hug.

Be sure to check out the links Danielle posted for you. If you get lost or have questions, just reach out.

Again, welcome back!

Lori Dee

My Life is Based on a True Story

Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything.
Maybe it's about un-becoming everything that isn't really you,
so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Be brave, be strong.  Try a little kindness.  I am a brown eyed brunette.

Hello Sylvia

My name is Sarah B and I would also like to formally, Welcome you to Susan's Place!

I see that other members of Susan's have also welcomed you as well, especially Danielle.  If anyone can recover anything from your past postings then Danielle maybe able to do so.

Sylvia is derived from the Latin word Silvia meaning spirit of the wood or forest.  So a nice choice, my question is why the 'Red'?  Red hair?  Well as you can see my hair is Red!  Well actually it's Auburn.

Don't worry about being active around here, you contribute when you are ready to do so.  Whatever your story is, someone here will more than likely find it useful.  Susan's is a place where ones experience and knowledge is shared.  Not like me when I changed my life around there was not internet and where I lived no information.

I was here at Susan's many years ago and then I left after a couple of years.  I have only recently returned after many years of absence.

Everyone is different in how they go about changing their lives and I'm no different.  Just look at my short bio below my signature.  Take your time and of course take small steps if that is how you want to go about changing your life around.

As for rocking your boat, I see you have dipped your toes in the water and you are saying to yourself, "I think it's nice",  So jump in, make a splash and you will find that the water is beautiful.  I know, I'm a swimmer.

I see that you know the all wise and wonderful Sephirah, I will knock on her door as well and tell her to come and greet and old friend.

Once you feel comfortable here, it would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself in the other forums and threads.  I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new about new members.

In addition members of Susan's will more than likely will discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most have experienced these issues as well.

Take care and all the best for the future.

Once again, Welcome to Susan's Place!

Thanks, I'll post on the forum here and there, I may be slow about it but I wille :), I appreciate the encouragement.

As for why Red, it was mainly just a way to turn my name into a more unique online username but Red and Pink are some of my favorite colors, though green and purple are awesome too, but I think red is more name-ish material xD.

OMG!!

Sarah!! I mean Sylvia!

Welcome back!  I too am just returning to these forums after a hiatus.

I feel I know all to well what you mean by being inadequate as a trans-person.  I briefly touched upon it in my blog thread, which (thankfully in this case) survived the Great Forum Loss of 2024.

I know a lot of my inadequate feeling are probably tied to me not doing enough to to transition more quickly, but honestly some days I don't know how I feel about it all, or if I could actually go through with a full transition, because I feel like I have too much to loose, and the current political climate of the past several years is making the prospect even scarier for me.  But then something re-affirming happens, like my PCP asking gentle important questions to better serve me, and referring me for my first mammogram, or by GD offering and then sending me a supportive letter for breast augmentation, and I am nearly overcome with thoughts of taking the next step and making my transition even bigger and bolder.
