I will have a male roommate and will not be disclosing my transgender status.
I found a good way to hide sharps and supplies, chose a college with private bathrooms.
Everything is done except lower surgeries, I'm 6 ft

If anyone is still active and has been through this:
How careful do I need to be?
Should I attempt to wipe news articles, awards, and records that are online under my old name? Any idea how to do that?
Any other tips?

Hello Blep

My name is Sarah B and I would like to formally, Welcome you to Susan's Place!

Well I have never revealed my status and only my family knows about me and even then I never did reveal myself, a family member did.  That has been that way for over 35 years and even then I have second thoughts about telling doctors either.

So keeping your status in my opinion is a good way to go.

Well you certainly are on the ball!  My question for you and I think I have already answered it and that is, are you using your new legal name?  I think you are!

Unfortunately I do not know, when I was here many years ago there were a lot more FTM on Susan's.  However, these days there does not seem to be.  What you have said in this post of yours, you know exactly what you are doing.  There is of course a lot of information on the internet that can help you.

As you can gather from my short bio below my signature, I changed my life around.  In 1994 I went to university, however I did not live on campus, I did live with my boyfriend.  So in a sense I have been through something similar.

I would ensure that all your 'devices' are password protected so that nobody does not poke their nose where it is not wanted and I'm sure you have a safe place to do the injections that you require.

Do not post anything online unless you feel comfortable in doing so.  Why?  The internet does not forget in a sense and anyone can read what is posted on Susan's unless you have a private conversation with other members.

Other than that I can not think of any other practical things you can do that will keep you safe.  I'm sure other members here on Susan's will think of something else.  Sorry yes there is, just be yourself and be confident in what you do.

You certainly can try and if by doing so it makes you feel more comfortable about yourself, then please do so.  I certainly know where you are coming from on this issue of keeping quite about yourself.

I changed my life around before the internet was really around and so I never had that problem per se.  I know there are 'websites' or places that can try to wipe your history.  How successful they are I do not know and of course engaging them could lead to having to reveal who you are now.

If they are government departments then with the correct paper work and depending on where you are located, one can change that information.

You can of course delete all your old social media accounts and start new ones.

Once you feel comfortable here, it would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself in the Introductions Forum, of course.  I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new about new members

In addition members of Susan's will more than likely will discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most of us have experienced these as well.

Please review the links at the end of this message, they include information which will help you navigate the site and use the available features. When you reach 15 posts, you will be able to send and reply to private messages and you will also be able to add an avatar to your profile, until then if you have any questions about the Susan's Place site and the Forums, please feel free to contact, the Forum Admin Danielle Northern Star Girl alaskandanielle@yahoo.com

Hello Blep,

Welcome to Susan's Place.

I don't have any experience relating to your situation, so I will defer to someone else who might be better qualified in this regard. I agree with Sarah that it seems like you have taken necessary precautions and password-protecting computer files is good advice. Sharps and supplies should not raise any concerns as many people are diabetic and use injections. Keep your prescriptions out of sight though.

If you feel it is safe to do so, feel free to pop over to our Introductions section and tell us a little more about you. Everyone is welcome here and your insights and advice help us all learn about their journey.

Welcome to Susan's Place. I look forward to seeing you around the forums.

Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything.
Maybe it's about un-becoming everything that isn't really you,
so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.
