I sometimes get emails that have my name and my gmail address as the SENDER.  I did not send those.  I wonder if others may receive the emails with my name and gmail address on them.  I hope not.

What is up with that?

I wonder if blocking my own email address would prevent me receiving a carbon or blind copy of a email, or me sending a email to myself.  Perhaps I should try it out.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

I wouldn't.

That is usually a spammer spoofing your email address so it looks like you sent it. In your email program, there is an option to View the Message Headers. That reveals all the places that your email was routed through, including the original sender's IP address.

If the headers reveal that it came from your email address, and not a CC or BCC, you could have a virus. Some viruses will use your computer to send emails from "you" to people on your contact list. Make sure that your anti-virus software is up to date and do a scan to ensure your computer is not infected.

Yeah they are scammers. They usually say things like "Give me X amount of cryptocurrency or I will send some video I have from your webcam to everyone on your contacts list."

It's utter BS. Ignore them.

As the old saying goes: "Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool."

If these people actually did something productive with their lives, maybe the world would be a better place.

All this stuff is prolific. There are whole YouTube channels dedicated to busting these scammers and turning their scams against them. I've lost count of the number of people who've called me, supposedly from my ISP... always with an Indian accent, wanting access to my router information. There are whole nests of these miscreants who get up in a morning to try and get like one person to be a sucker for the stuff they pull. It's pathetic. Get a life.

It's the modern form of attempted bank robbery. Same sort of miscreant mindset.

They pretend to email or call people from Amazon, wanting account details etc. It's the Cyberpunk future we never wanted, lol. You should see some of this stuff.  It's both eye opening and disgusting.

I don't have a webcam. I don't do crypto. So, good luck with that.

Not just information. A way to get at your financial details so they can drain your online payment details. They sell information, but it goes several steps further. It's old school mafia crime in the cyber age.

Keep your passwords cycling, never trust anything that looks like you sent it if they're up to date, always ask for credentials over the phone. Always question. Keep your anti-malware and anti-virus up to date. I know that sounds like tin foil hattery but it's worse now than it's ever been and these no-marks are only waiting on one person to not care. You have to be one step ahead of these people.
