Quote from: TracieCarolinaGirl on October 02, 2024, 01:24:40 PMHow do I determine my size in women's jeans?
Many online retailers offer "Fit Finder". Basically it is a tool that helps to find clothing for specific body shapes and sizes. They often use algorithms and data to analyze body measurements and preferences, providing personalized recommendations. The bot will ask for information such as height, age, weight, belly shape, hips,  bra sizes, fit preferences, etc... to help you choose the right size when ordering certain products.

I use this tool as starting point, and use the recommended sizes as a benchmark when shopping online.

But yeah, there's nothing better than trying the item in a fitting room at the store.

Did you try any jeans Tracie?  Find any that fit well?

I usually wear Sonoma jeans, boot cut. My man size was 36/32 now I am a size 14 woman's. Woman's jeans usually have a stretchy fiber which makes them hug our curves more. I do have a couple of pairs of skinny jeans which I've never been a big fan of. I always have trouble getting my big feet through. Pockets are for decoration and useless. That's why women carry a handbag.

Skinny jeans are still my faves!  Sizings can be tricky though online. Once I find the jeans I like I will try and stick with that brand for as long as possible.

Junior sizes are for less curvy women.  In the USA they are the odd numbered sizes, like size 3.

I like the way skinny jeans fit, but they don't always look as good as I would like. They tend to show off my bow legs and knobby knees. My favorite jeans are Jack David boot cut jeans. They have just enough flare at the bottom to make my knees less obvious. I have a couple of pairs of skin-tight jeans that are SO comfortable and look really good with knee-high boots (for the same reason). I'm not a fan of all the bling on the back pockets simply because I kept finding rhinestones in my wash machine where they got rubbed off.

Then I saw an article where the CEO of Levi's said to stop washing your jeans. He said that we can prolong their life by not washing them as often as most people do. He clarified his statement later, saying that he did not mean do not wash them. He spot-cleans them if they are stained or really dirty but usually just washes them in the shower.

I can see how that would help preserve any decorative elements, as well as protect the stretchy elastic from heat damage. My mother had told me once to never put bras in the dryer for the same reason. Hand-wash and air dry can keep many of our clothing items looking good for years.

I tend to buy curvy or straight leg jeans a size up so that there is more material around the hips to try to give the illusion of me having wide hips.  But I also wear jeans of the exact correct size.

As many have said, finding your size across all brands can be difficult. Women have more to measure than just waist and inseam. You'll get used to what looks and feels best on your frame. Do you use hip/butt padding? That makes a tremendous difference in sizing. Low rise or hip hugger styles won't look good unless you have natural assets.
And then of course, where do you intend on wearing these? Casual day trips or more like dinner events?
