I'm an older adult who recently realized I am trans female. I had a terrible childhood filled with trauma that included being trans in a fundamentalist household. I knew I was trans in a way since I was 2. By 3 I knew I was a girl. One of the worst traumas for me was learning I had a male body.
I finally recovered those memories recently and everything has been falling into place. Most of my life now makes sense.
Ive only just begun seeing a gender therapist and I'm trying to reach out for help. Which is difficult when you have CPTSD.
I need help. I'm hoping you good people can help me.

Hi.

  Welcome Joey!

Chrissy
Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Welcome Aboard Joey!

Kudos to you for the brave step forward in finding a gender therapist and all good things to you as you move forward towards finding your answers to what this all means and how your life can be structured to serve you best... I guarantee those answers are worth every bit of energy expended to find them! Never too late!

Let go of the things that no longer serve you... Let go of the pretense of the false persona, it is not you... Let go of the armor that you have worn for a lifetime, to serve the expectations of others and, to protect the woman inside... She needs protection no longer.... She is tired of hiding and more courageous than you know... Let her prove that to you....Let her step out of the dark and feel the light upon her face.... amg🌸

You'll find you aren't alone here, there are lots of friends. We're all kinds of ages, have all sorts of experience and plenty of empathy to share. So welcome!

Hello Joey

My name is Sarah B and I would also like to formally, Welcome you to Susan's Place!

I see that other members of Susan's have also welcomed you as well.

I'm happy to see that have taken the brave step to reach out.  It sounds like you have been through a lot and it's incredibly courageous of you acknowledge everything you have experienced.

Coming to terms with being who you are, especially after a difficult and traumatic past, is no small feat.  It's completely understandable that your journey alongside CPTSD might feel overwhelming.  You are not alone and Susan's is here to support you through the ups and downs, no matter what.

You have already taken a huge step by starting therapy and reaching out for help, this shows just how strong you are.  Here at Susan's we are here for you, to listen and provide any help we can and finally a place where you can be yourself, with understanding and support.

Once you feel comfortable here, it would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself in the other forums and threads.  I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new about new members

In addition members of Susan's will more than likely will discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most have experienced these issues as well.

Take care and all the best for the future.

Once again, Welcome to Susan's Place!

Best Wishes Always

Some or all of the people in this thread have blogs and maybe a good way in will be to read about some of the challenges we share with you in our histories. One of the things you can assume about Susan's is that anything that you can't discuss with cis people is part of normality for us, so a slew of topics and emotions which have been off the table for you until now are open season. It really, really helps to talk, because the more we talk, the more we learn there are others who share our hopes and fears. And some tips and tricks too.
