Hi Emilyn,

I don't care for lip gloss because the wind blows my hair in my mouth and it sticks to my lips. 
What I use is Maybelline Colorstay lipstick. It stains the lips the longer you leave it on. So I put it on first, then by the time I am ready to leave, I can wipe most of it off and it leaves just enough color to look natural.

Try some brands at dollar stores to see if it works for you.
If none do, then either give them up or go to Ulta or Sally's or Sephora or even the grocery store beauty aisle. 

I do not use lip gloss.
