Trump vows to strip transgender rights through executive orders

Phoenix, Arizona - President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday pledged to "stop the transgender lunacy" on day one of his presidency, as Republicans – set to control both chambers of Congress and the White House – continue their push against LGBTQ+ rights.

"I will sign executive orders to end child sexual mutilation, get transgender out of the military and out of our elementary schools and middle schools and high schools," the president-elect said at an event for young conservatives in Phoenix, Arizona.

He also vowed to "keep men out of women's sports," adding that "it will be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female."

The rights of transgender Americans have been under attack in recent years, as Democratic- and Republican-controlled states have moved in opposite directions on policies such as medical treatment and what books on the topic are allowed in public or school libraries.

Last week, when Congress approved its annual defense budget, it included a provision to block funding of some gender-affirming care for the transgender children of service members.

Trump's quotes remind me of my childhood when I escaped from awkward rules about sex-appropriate behavior, and found fertile ground where people honored authentic self expression.

Trump's quotes remind me of the joy of discovering my children's identities instead of imposing arbitrary rules about what they should value.

Trump's quotes make me swell with pride as I feel something erupt from within my cells: enormous pride that my wife is declaring her identity in spite of the attacks that the media reports.

Trump clearing families of transpeople out of the military will be as disastrous as deporting immigrants. These people are making valuable contributions and sacrifices. They provide essential services and must not be dismissed as worthless.

Yeah prettymuch, I mean anyone even slightly objective knows trumps first presidency was a absolute catastrophic failure from every point of view, mainly because he's quite possibly the laziest bum to ever take office (but that's what happens I suppose when the standard for entry is 'marketing skills'). He's too lazy to implement his own goals and too lazy to address issues as they arise, about the only thing he's good at is throwing a temper tantrum when he doesn't get his way (which really just resulted in the highest turnover rate in the history of the white house), but of course the maga's don't remember any of that, they really weren't paying much attention the first time (mostly because there politics revolve around their identity - which if they ever stopped to think about might fall apart as well, oops).

The real concern now is many of their goals are actionable now because of the production of project 2025, the actual ideologues in his camp kind of worked out he's a bum and useless so they set about to build the program to accomplish it, of course many of those things are terrible ideas to boot - but that's the scariest bit, once these things are implemented and become the massive failures they are, these maga sorts will just do what they do, find a blame - and that is massively concerning.

I wish he will be wise in all of his decisions to accomplish what is fair and reasonable.

Hello Moxie,

I'm Lori Dee. Welcome to Susan's Place!

Thank you for joining the forum and contributing to the discussions. I think Project 2025 is a distraction. Trump has disavowed any connection to it (even though we know that is a lie). So instead of focusing on "guidelines" that he claims he has nothing to do with, we should focus on what he has said he will do—his Agenda 47. It's the same thing, just in a different wrapper. But he cannot claim he has nothing to do with his own agenda.

Well what has happened is trump has claimed he doesn't know anything about it before the election, now that he's the PE he knows all about it and thinks it's a great idea. trump lies, surprise surprise.

I am not surprised by anything this nutcase does. What is hard to swallow is that enough people had collective amnesia and/or free cookies to vote this lunatic back into office. I guess you get what you pay for.

We're suffering the same thing in the UK.

Hello, yes I've been on the discord for a while, kind of on and off a bit. I think I've seen you there a bit as well, nice to more formally met you.

Getting onto the forum here has been kind of a thing I've procrastinated about for a while, I've meant to show up sooner, but I guess now is as good a time a any.

It's honestly been a while since I've started up on a new forum, I'll have to look at it a bit and see if I remember how and can come up with something - seriously though, I'm a bit of an introvert, I appreciate the encouragement.

Yeah Americans aren't necessarily known for having good memory when it comes to politics? I've kind of lost faith in the average American that way.

I think a large part of it though has to do with the fact that a significant segment of the population hasn't significant faith in either party and even less faith in third party contenders.

Honey, I am the ultimate introvert. Discord makes me a bit sick in my mouth haha. Take your time and just say what you want to say. When you want to say it. It's all good. <3

As I understand it, you folks don't have a third party. You have one candidate, the other candidate, then the candidate everyone "would" vote for if they thought their vote would make a difference. Usually someone who would actually make significant change. Kind of like the "Green" party in the UK. Everyone thinks they have sound ideas. They sound credible. But everyone knows that no one else will vote for them so any vote is a wasted vote. So they just vote for Coke or Pepsi. Because that's how it's always been. They both give you diabetes.

haha, that's a nice way to say it, like I would rant on about how illiberal partisan duopoly is, but no one in America ever seems receptive to that.

That's essentially it, many people want a third party and there's several options out there, the Greens and Libertarians for example, but only the Republicans and Democrats have any established success and the system is largely built to favor the status quo so nothing ever changes.
