We rarely know what the future holds, but we often make plans anyway. What are your plans for the new year?

My new years is going to start with a funeral on 3 Jan. My dad passed away from cancer on Christmas Eve. His passing opens a door for many possibilities. Susan and I had moved closer so we could help my dad stay in his house as long as possible, and we did that. Although we have lived in Arkansas for over three years, it doesn't feel like we have made many close friends. We are considering moving again, to a state where our rights are better protected. Since most of our close friends are in Colorado, we may head back there. Retirement is also getting much closer, but I still have not made the decision.

Jess,

Whatever you and Susan choose to do I am wishing that it ends up being a very reasonable decision and works out well.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

My initial plan is to save money as much as possible to prepare to move too. On a fixed income, saving money is not easy. The plan is to leave South Dakota when my lease is up in August. Minnesota is the nearest state with laws that will protect me. From there, I will continue to assess the "political climate" and determine if I need to leave the country to have access to surgery. For now, finances are driving most of my decision-making. So, we will see how it goes.

To get to 2026. That's as far as my plans ever go. ;D

This!

Hope for the best, plan for the worst.  It promises to be a very "interesting" (in the sense of the ancient Chinese curse) year.  I just plan to survive it.

Jessica, please accept my condolences, I feel for you having lost my mother on Boxing Day many years ago. It's always hard to say goodbye, but particularly at this time of year.

For 2025 I just hope to experience as much life as I can. Last year was challenging for me medically and I am over seeing doctors. Hopefully 2025 will improve that.

I am approaching the New Year with concern and care for my friends in the USA, I know this will be a challenging year for you all.

Hugs,

Allie

To live each day well.  To be helpful.  To make it to the next day.  To be grateful always.

To be reasonable always.  To listen well always.  To understand.  To be understood.

May you all have wonderful years ahead.

Jess,

My condolences to you and your family for your dad's passing. I know how hard you and Susan worked to keep him in his home and comfortable.

We would love to see you back here after things settle down!

If so, then why not?

I guess I neglected to actually say anything about my plans for 2025!

I've entered the Revel Mt. Charleston marathon near Las Vegas in early April. I'll go with a team of 8-10 women from my local running group.

Also I just bought a ticket to Boot Tan Fest on April 11. It's a festival for women and femmes only -- no men allowed (they explicitly welcome genderqueer femmes). They rent out an entire ski resort (it's end of season by then). The signature event is the Naked Ski Lap (yes, kinda depends on the weather how many women actually strip down). "Boot Tan" get it?

Planning hasn't gotten farther than that!
If so, then why not?

Just plodding along, lots to do. Have to get the Countryman ready for an indoor hot rod show in April and also work on my mates hot rod T. Mum has booked a holiday coach trip in March to north Wales so that to look forward to. Also aim to lose some lbs (looks around for some will power)

If you fail to plan, plan to fail!

Wait. . .  Not all is lost.  We all fail at some things.

We can learn from failures.

So then, is planning something to be avoided?

No.  Just be careful to not micromanage yourself.  There is time for the most important things in life, if you allow that time to be used.
