How do you sit post-op?

My wife is recovering well from her minimal/zero-depth vaginoplasty/vulvoplasty, done 1/16. She finds sitting unbearable. We tried every chair, with/without pillows and/or donut. Any suggestions?

Hi Moonflower

It's good to hear that Beth is recovering well from her surgery.  It' been a long time since my surgery and it is very hard to remember the exact details on my post op surgery.  Given the date 1/16 it's not even two weeks.  So time is the factor in recovering from the operation.

I had my surgery and I had two weeks to recover, I was in bed,  shower to relieve the pain or I was sitting.  I know that it was mentioned about sitting on a cushion or donut to be comfortable,  But I do not remember if I did or not.

Two weeks post surgery I was back at work as I needed the money and I wanted to beat others back to work in recovery time.  While back at work, I walked very gingerly and I was standing up all day.  Yes I did sit and that was on the way to work and back by train about two hours of sitting.  I was a draftsperson and one stood up while you drew your plans in pencil or ink.  When I had to sit, I have the sense, that I did it very carefully.  So all in all I was not sitting down very much.

I was 32 and I guess I recovered very quickly. Maybe a kneeling chair might help, but the cost and time might indicate it would not be of much use.  This is just a thought on my part.

Maybe some more basic pain killers, sleep, shower, standing and time might or will help.

Take care and I know things will improve with time.

Best Wishes Always

Hmmm 🤔. If you wanted to try a kneeling chair go to a medical supply store and try sitting on it. Maybe you can just rent one. I know you can rent knee scooters.

I used a donut cushion for a while after my MDV surgery.  I also did a lot of standing, to the point where my ankles were starting to swell.

She had to go in for a leg ultrasound yesterday because her legs swelled up. All looked clear. Swelling is less today.

She's the most comfortable when standing/walking, but doesn't have enough energy to be upright during all of her waking hours.

Dear Grace:
I am happy to read that Beth's leg ultrasound turned out OK.
Try to keep her legs slightly elevated when she can be sitting, or laying down.
HUGS, Danielle

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Thanks for all of the concern. She turned a corner! Every day, the swelling is subsiding! She's also able to get up and down slightly more comfortably. The inflatable donut arrived tonight, so she'll try that tomorrow.

It does get better everyday as I would expect, how is the inflatable donut working out, when I had my surgery I was very sore and uncomfortable when sitting and got relief from a soft donut cushion, it removed a lot of the pressure from the surgical area and more comfortable sitting and allowing my Vagina to heal.
If your going thru hell, just keep going.

Yes! As I tend her surgical site (twice daily now), I always see noticeable healing.

Her ability to sit drastically improved as soon as the catheter was out of the way. Sure, her surgical site is still tender, but the catheter was so irritating!

Almost back to normal. Still recovering, of course, but every day has been a significant step of progress.

Terrorized by the news, but otherwise overjoyed with the body changes. NO regrets.

No real problem sitting any more. Still tender, but no real problem. Thanks for all of your caring.
