Inivtation as a panelist

Queens University, here in Kingston is holding a panel discussion for the "Women's Studies intro course" on Feb 25th, which is exploring multiple identities and feminisms and issues of privilege and oppression.  They were hoping to find people who identify as trans, intersex, lesbian and/or queer who would be willing to talk about their experiences and thoughts on intersections between gender, biological sex, sexual identity, feminism, and related ideas.

I was asked to partisipate as a member of the panel.  It should be interesting.  I've taken part in similar discussions before, once before a board of med students starting their psychiatry specialty.  Yes I'm looking forward to it and I'll report back on the outcome.

If you haven't read it already, I recommend this book: Whipping Girl: A Transsexual Woman on Sexism and the Scapegoating of Femininity by Julia Serano.  It covers many of the same issues that you will be talking about from a trans perspective.  I'm about halfway through mine and I'm impressed about her observations and writing.
