The Millennium Bridge in London had to be redesigned because it had to control resonance force.
They installed dampers to fix the issue.  It took a year and a half to design a correction, modify the bridge, and to test, then reopen the bridge that originally opened in June 2000.

In the Chicago Sanitary and Ship canal, parts of it in Romeoville, IL is charged with electricity in at least three places in the attempt to deter the Asian Carp back, away from Lake Michigan.

During April 1992 a tunnel under the Chicago River became flooded and this caused many basements in Chicago buildings to become flooded.  Repairs have cost around two billion dollars.

Some of those basements, people did not know they existed. They had been used as Speak-Easys and alcohol storage during Prohibition. All entrances and access had been walled up, leaving no evidence that the space was there.

The Oroville, CA dam is the highest dam in the USA at about 235 meters.  It was completed in 1968.  In 2017 its main spillway was damaged.  The water in the lake behind the dam was overwhelming.  The emergency spillway was also used.  Mud and rocks were moving down with the water.

A mass evacuation of 180,000 people downstream was done. The main spillway had design flaws that were corrected.  The secondary spillway was reinforced.  The cost of all of the rework was about a billion dollars.

That is California Gold Country (as evidenced by the name "Oroville"). I have cousins who live near there. After the flood, they did very well with gold prospecting, where the water had removed a lot of the upper layers of dirt and rocks.
