The shortest regularly scheduled commercial international airline flight from the USA is the 20 minute one from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Freeport, Bahamas (FPO).

The official state bird of Alaska is the willow ptarmigan, as designated in 1955.  This bird is known for its seasonal plumage changes.  It is brown in summer and white in winter for camouflage.

The young chicks do consume insects, including mosquitoes, as part of their diet.

The official state insect of Alaska is the four-spotted skimmer dragonfly, as designated in 1995. This dragonfly was chosen because of its role in controlling mosquito populations in the state.

The mosquito bugs a lot of people in Alaska, and other places too!

When tanks were very similar, M60, M60A1, M60A2, M60A3, etc., the older versions got stored out there. During Jimmy Carter's Administration, the Defense Budget was slashed drastically. Repair parts were backordered for months. Eventually, they went to SIAD and scavenged parts from the older tanks. Many of the vehicles are not broken down heaps. They are just outdated, but still had almost new parts on them when they went into storage.

Then they had to have the latest and greatest M-1 Abrams tank, which is a totally different animal. Nothing from the M60-series can be used to repair an Abrams. Of course, now we have the M1A1 and the M1A2 models, so they can pull parts from the old M1s.

Now imagine if all of your Abrams tanks got destroyed somehow. You bus thousands of tank crews out to the desert, and they are ready for the next battle.

Also note that this arsenal is in California. The nut-jobs out East should pay attention to who they anger.  ;D

Besides Netflix, another reason Blockbuster Video went out of business was that its chief turned down a deal to have A TIMEPERIOD WHERE NEW FILM RELEASES on DVD were made available only for rent before they could be bought.  So people bought the cheaper than VHS DVDs of films and rented less movies. People bought lots of DVD players quickly as they were rather inexpensive.

The reason free soda pop refills became so widely adopted in the USA was that Taco Bell offered free refills of its Pepsi products and restaurant competitors decided to match the deal.  Pepsi owned Taco Bell.  Consumption of Pepsi shot up with this deal.
