US army plans for a potential parade of 6,600 soldiers on Trump's birthday
Plans for a large military parade coinciding with the president's 79th birthday would likely cost tens of millions

Detailed army plans for a potential military parade on Donald Trump's birthday in June call for more than 6,600 soldiers, at least 150 vehicles, 50 helicopters, seven bands and possibly a couple of thousand civilians ...

At the same time, Fox News reported that the parade was a definite go-ahead and would happen on 14 June, the 250th birthday of the United States army as well as Trump's own birthday, when he will become 79.

While the slides do not include any price estimates, it would probably cost tens of millions of dollars to put on a parade of that size.

High costs halted Trump's push for a parade in his first term, and the tanks and other heavy vehicles that are part of the army's latest plans have raised concerns from city officials about damage to roads.

In a Truth Social post on Thursday night that did not mention the 14 June plans, Trump wrote, "We are going to start celebrating our victories again!" He vowed to rename 8 May, now known as Victory in Europe Day, as "Victory Day for World War II", and to change 11 November, Veterans Day, to "Victory Day for World War I".

How long before he starts calling himself Kim Jong Trump?

VE day, VJ Day(2nd September), ANZAC day (25th April)... these are days celebrated by people all over the world. Not everything is about the US and the Orange-utan.

Remembrance Day, in November, it's not about victory. It's remembering every single person who gave their lives in defence of what they thought was right. We remember the fallen. That's the whole point. Not just those victorious. There was no decisive victory in WW1. Just a massively horrific loss of life on all sides.

This dude makes me more and more sick to my stomach every time he has a thought. He missed out a 6. Should probably be 6,660 troops. :P

UPDATE: White House backtracks on renaming Veterans Day

A day after President Donald Trump announced he was renaming Nov. 11 -- the date that Veterans Day is observed -- as "Victory Day for World War I," the White House is now saying it will be an additional proclamation and not a full replacement.

"We are not renaming Veteran's Day," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told ABC News. "It will just be an additional proclamation that goes out on that day."

In his social media post on Thursday, Trump also said he intended to designate May 8 as "Victory Day for World War II."

"We won both Wars, nobody was close to us in terms of strength, bravery, or military brilliance, but we never celebrate anything - That's because we don't have leaders anymore, that know how to do so! We are going to start celebrating our victories again!," Trump wrote.

Establishing a federal holiday or a patriotic or national observance requires the passage of a law, according to the Congressional Research Service. Lawmakers created "Armistice Day" in 1938 to commemorate World War I. Then, in 1954 after World War II and the Korean War, they renamed it "Veterans Day" at the urging of veterans groups.

Probably because anyone with a modicum of empathy kind of gets that there are no winners in wars. Trump sees everything in terms of having to win. Having to be right. There's a reason people don't generally blow their own trumpet and flex over everyone else. Because there are other people in the world. You remember people who gave their lives. You remember the end to the atrocity of war. You remember the sacrifice and the horror of pitting one side against another because people high up had to stroke their ego. In the blood and dirt, you remember the veterans. At least in my opinion. Trump has no concept of this because he's always dodged actually having to do the thing he wants to celebrate. That kind of thing only matters to people who move the chess pieces on the board. Who have nothing to lose. For normal people... no. They are not so arrogant.

You don't celebrate wars. You try to avoid them.
