Do you eat Bread and Butter Pudding?

In this British food, the bread is sliced and buttered before becoming the base of the delicious dessert.  After topping the base with currants and raisins, the bread is blanketed with egg custard.

I have an Indian version in one of my books, I prefer bread pudding. Soak torn up white bread in water and when saturated squeze out as much moisture as you can, mix in some mixed spice and raisins then bake.
