The foundation that made the LGBTQ+ Rainbow flag will lead the WorldPride Parade in D.C. on Saturday with a 1,000-foot-long rainbow flag.

The Gilbert Baker Foundation leaders said this shows a vivid act of defiance and a powerful declaration of LGBTQ+ visibility amid mounting legislative attacks.

"In Utah, you can bring a Nazi flag into school, but you can't bring a rainbow flag in—I think that's terrible," President of The Gilbert Baker Foundation Charley Beal said.

The Gilbert Baker Foundation was founded in memory of the creator of the Rainbow Flag. The organization has been defending the flag amid legislative and legal challenges across the nation, said Beal.

Beal said the flag will be carried by 500 members of the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington.
