We recognize that not every member is a native English speaker, and many of us have been out of school for a long time. Our Forum Administrator has put together some helpful tips on effective writing for your Forum posts.

You can read that here:
https://www.susans.org/index.php/topic,247280.msg2263297.html#msg2263297

The first two sections are very important:

  • Writing Your Posts with Impact
    • Craft a clear and engaging subject title for a strong first impression.
    • Avoid large blocks of text. Instead, use proper grammar, punctuation, sentences, and paragraphs for better readability.
    • An engaging introduction and a succinct conclusion help retain the reader's interest.

  • Review Your Post
    • Reading your post aloud before submission can highlight areas needing improvement.

The other sections go on to describe ways to make your posts more engaging for your readers and are worth reading too.

We look forward to reading what you have to say!

Don't do what I do. Don't be a wordy cow. Don't say in a paragraph what you can say in a sentence. Pro tip. ;) Unless what you need to say needs a paragraph, lol. In which case, go nuts!

Most of all.. speak from your heart. Don't hold stuff back because you think people might not get it, or might not understand. People can forgive a lot if what you say comes from your soul. You're all very welcome here. Wherever you come from, whatever your grasp of English.

Be yourself, whoever that is. <3 Get your mind onto Susan's, so you can meet other minds who get you. :)

(sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes)

Above all... remember: you are beautiful, you are valuable, and you have a shining spark of magnificence within you. Don't let anyone take that from you. Embrace who you are. <3
