Monday I went for my exercise (walk) in the mall. I walk around te mall at a brisk pace 4 times.
Had 2 black woman in there 40/50,s seemingly make me. The problem was I had just come from work and was dress as a male. I'm baffed? Or am I just imaging? They were staring at me and had that look.
Remember i'm a MTFM.

I'm a little baffled as well, but I may not be reading your post correctly...

1. If you were made and you are a MtF (MTFM?) dressed in male cloths, were you made as a female, in which case that would be a good thing.
2. What does MTFM mean? and
3. Why did you feel the need to identify the women as being black? a woman is a woman is she not?

There are number of things that can shatter the preconceived notions of people.

How you walk, how you move, even what you look at... how you sound, how you say what you say... the slight nuances of body movement... the subtle gestures. (et cetera)

Clothing doth not make the person.

Of course, they could have been trying to figure out why you were zooming around the place *wink*

I have heard several trans people (never noticed myself) say stuff about African American woman being able to read them.  Here's an example: https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,1738.msg13213.html#msg13213

Stephanie,
First I was wear male clothing. Second I just was reminding any new readers that I am a male to female trangender person. Third, no offence intended to African Americans, I Like Melissa have read about many trans people saying that African American woman seem to be able to read them as being tran. No one else seemed to paid any attention to me.
And yes Kimberly you maybe right. I think I have train myself to walk like a woman so well that it has become natural to me and I walk the walk all the time.

So my questions are still -

1. since you were dressed as a male what did they make you as?
2. Yes you are MtF, but what does MtFM stand for or is it a typo?
3. I would need to see the stats not hear say, to back up the claim that African American Women are able to detect (read) a trans person better than others.

:)

I think Kimberly hit it on the head... Your actions probably drew attention to you, nothing more.

The inner voice said "Do they know I'm TG?"

Unless you have some overt signs of being TG, how could they have known.

They may very well have been studying you so that in the event that a store in the mall reported a robbery, they would have been able to positively identify you.

I know I'm not the one to answer these, but I'm pretty good at reading between lines and deduction.

1.  Jillieann goes to the mall to do her walk as female as stated in another post.  Therefore, she was made as male.
2. Most likely "Male To FeMale".
3. There are no statistics and it is all hearsay.

Yes you are right Melissa.  Sorry it's been a long week and I have been getting enough sleep.
That most likely why my words are not making much sense.
It just seemed weird that these two women were the only ones that seem to take more than a passing glance at me. Maybe they were security people in plain cloths.

Thanks Melissa,

I was confused by the part of Jillieanns' post that said
QuoteThe problem was I had just come from work and was dress as a male.

So when she said they "Made" her I was wondering if they made her a a male or as a female?

I see the confusion.  I believe she was wearing both makeup and male clothes.

This is a weird conversation. :icon_weirdface: I can't figure out what I was tiring to say from my original posting on this topic. When you're tired you say, write and think strange things.

Anyway when I walked around the mall Monday evening dress as a male and without makeup I thought that these ladies were looking at me as if I was very strange. The though pop into my mind that they were thinking that I should have had a dress on instead of pants. (Figuratively speaking that is.)

But now all of that really sound weird.  :icon_weirdface: I think I was so tired that I wasn't thinking straight.

Thank Stephanie and Melissa for listening to my mad raves. :icon_confused2: :icon_weirdface:
Now I'm doing better. It's only been a week and a half since I started a new job. Now I have to get up about 3 hour earlier. But I just haven't been getting to bed early enough to get the rest that I need.
Oh yes, I'm up late again tonight but I can sleep in tomorrow morning.
It will be Saturday and I don't need to go into work. Yea
.

I'm doing it again. I've been tired because my new job requires me to get up 3 hour earlier then I had been getting up.So I have not been getting enough sleep.
I need a icon with a night cap on her head and a candle in her hand.

what i think happened is that the women at a distance perceved your image as an aproaching woman, due to your body language. they then were distacted, then when you were closer they looked up to give you a nod  they were suprised to find a man, giving you the "read" look.  next time give them a big wink and swish on.
