From the author of some of the previous conservative posts.

I figured I'd give a bit of an update after the 'conservative transman' post.
I now feel a little bit unsure about all of my views, although I think I gained some friends and was able to exercise some good influence precisely due to those viewpoints.

It's funny in a way because I started out as extremely liberal, then went 'trad', then gradually calmed down and now I seem to be looking for a balance. In retrospect it's exhausting to have one unrelenting opinion (left or right) and never be able to shift - so I guess I'm a chameleon now.

There is a newspaper I like (dutch) that published some of my more conservative pieces, and now I'm in a cold war with them over their opinion that transwomen-athletes are "men" - an opinion which I have a hard time tolerating.

Their audience is all "normies" and I feel like I have a responsibility to question their asinine viewpoint, specially because they were willing to listen to me before, but holy guacamole it's exhausting having to wage a one-man battle.

Now I know how some of you feel.
Cheers

I do sympathize with you on not knowing where you stand with who you are and your values now and before. You first have to figure out what you stand for as a human being without gender being involved.

People who don't understand the struggles of being a trans person won't understand no matter how much you try to get them to. Yes, it's okay to try to explain it to them, but unless they go through it themselves they can't fully understand the challenges associated.

In North America especially the line between liberal and conservative has shifted significantly to the right. Europe from my understanding is also following a move to the right as well. When I was of voting age in the 80's I would have been considered a conservative now in North America I am a left wing extremist and most of my opinions haven't really changed that much.

It really is a shame that the line is moving so far to the right. For many who consider themselves right of center no longer have a voice.

For myself I consider myself socially liberal but fiscally conservative. I think the government should focus more on paying down debts than giving billionaires tax breaks or even grants but apparently that makes me a woke commie socialist.

I do agree that everything is leaning more right.

In my opinion, there is too many extremes on both sides. I'm more of a love who you love, do what you want for the most part, and keep me and mine safe kind of person. Yes I know that's a lot of people's opinion and it's not always attainable, but I live in the Panhandle of Texas and most of the bigotry and racist stereotypes are true. Yes there are some amazing people but like everywhere there are also some bad people.
