Transgender report meets mixed reaction
Fri, 18 Jan 2008 05:10p.m.

A Human Rights Commission report which calls for greater recognition of the rights of transgender people has met a mixed reaction.

The report, which follows an 18-month inquiry, recommends the Human Rights Act be altered to include "gender" to the grounds of discrimination.

In that other post regarding the New Zealand Human Rights Commission I included a link to the "Summary of Summissions".
That was a precursor to the final report.  Somehow I missed the link to the final report which just came out.

New Zealand Human Rights Commission Transgender Inquiry (Final Report)

It's 110 sparsely formatted pages, but worth the read.

Its funny when 90% are favorable or neutral and 10% are against, the report gets described as eliciting mixed reaction and not generally good reactions...
