"The Supreme Court on Monday declined to a take up a case from parents challenging a Colorado school district's policy allowing staff to conceal a student's 'gender identity' from parents."

"Two sets of parents with minor children at Wellington Middle School in Poudre School District R-1 asked the High Court to revive their lawsuit after lower courts dismissed the case on procedural grounds without considering the merits of the case."

"In addition to excluding parents from decision making, these policies explicitly call for concealment of students' gender identities from parents unless and until the student and the school decide to involve them. Thus, under such policies, parents' fear that the school district might make decisions for their children without their knowledge and consent is not speculative."

"The parents seek an advisory opinion that would fail to afford them any relief from the rulings below, and this is the wrong case to consider whether a public school employee's alleged discouraged disclosure regarding gender identity and expression implicates a fundamental right."

"I concur in the denial of certiorari because petitioners do not challenge the ground for the ruling below."

"But I remain concerned that some federal courts are tempted to avoid confronting a particularly contentious constitutional question: whether a school district violates parents' fundamental rights when, without parental knowledge or consent, it encourages a student to transition to a new gender or assists in that process."

"The case is Lee v. Poudre School District R-1, No. 25-89 in the Supreme Court of the United States."

Religion holds no greater weight in the Constitution than any other protected right. It does not override them; when rights conflict, they must be carefully balanced. Yet a bloc of religious extremists on the Supreme Court have increasingly treated religious claims as more important than other constitutionally protected rights, effectively endorsing religion. Elevating religion in this way amounts to an establishment of religion and violates the Constitution, even when done by the Supreme Court.

Wellington is in northern Colorado (aka Trumpland).

Quote from: Sarah B on Today at 03:27:54 AMunder such policies, parents' fear that the school district might make decisions for their children without their knowledge and consent

What exactly are these "decisions" that a school district would make for a child? School districts very rarely make any decisions for individual children except in "special needs" cases where the child has some disability, physical or mental. The district's focus is on academic excellence for all children.

Many believe the President when he stated that children are getting "sex-change" surgeries at school without parental consent. So they fear the school district will decide to perform surgery without parental knowledge, just because the child wants it.

In cases like this, the courts focus on the parents' rights and the school districts' needs to provide quality education without burdensome requirements. Nobody seems to recognize the child's right to express themselves as they wish. Nobody seems to be interested in calling out the President when he lies to millions of people on television.

One would think that the judiciary, with all of their education, would be smart enough to recognize a lie like that, or at least question what the actual policies are regarding transgender children. There is no shortage of information, with over 26 professional medical organizations that clearly state what those policies are.
