Transgender band: All the Pretty Horses...

I just stumbled upon this clip on youtube of the (I wouldn't call them glam-rock, but anyway) band, All the pretty Horses. First time I'm hearing about them, but really I loved what the lead says about the soul and the body. I'm officially a fan, though I suppose I should find some of the music before I commit to that... 





Has anybody seen the documentary about them (Venus of Mars)? After watching the second clip, it seems really interesting.

Clip 1: I used to like proper glam rock (Mark Bolan, David Bowie, The Sweet etc) but this lot musically are just plain awful......

Clip 2: Interesting documentary clip which put too much enphasis on make up and the person over did it in that department...

I bought the video and the CD too..the bass player (the one with real boobs) is a "thumb-er" bass player and that is the same as my style. He states that he is NOT interested in GRS and wants to stay married to his wife.

It cost about $32.00USD if I remember correctly..and yes there's some shock rock scenes in it...but overall it's good and insightful looking into the band's life, lifestyle and transgender theme.

At the time of the video production, the drummer was going to go all the way...but I haven't followed them for a while.

If anyone finds something out...post it here...but the music in my category is definitely Glam.

EVEN I SCARE TRANSGENDER PEOPLE!!!  I love that statement, you can tell they are good people, yes maybe they put a big emphasis on makeup, but the point is simply that the makeup is no different that wearing panties under your boy jeans, its that one little thing that makes you feel better and when you have to shove it back to the closet, you will feel regression and it will only come out more that ever before, or to be honest suicide becomes a reality.

At least those are along the lines of how I can relate.

That's the truth! Too many rock musicians never grow up, and I don't necessarily mean that in a good way. I'm all for artists maintaining a sense of childlike wonder and creativity, but staying the mentality of a teenage boy forever... not such a good idea.

No, I don't think it is.  I don't think that the Rolling Stones ever started out to be some off-beat, alternative band.  They started with the idea of making hit records.  Of being "recording artists" and all that.  Dwelling in some obscure corner of music sub-culture was not what they were doing it for. 

God it almost pains me - a DeadHead - to say this, but, perhaps, and just maybe perhaps, but perhaps nonetheless, the Rolling Stones are the greatest rock band ever.

IF --- and its not even an if --- The blues had a baby and they called it rock and roll, then the RS are the real deal.  If 19th Nervous Breakdown was released today it would be an alternative classic from that day one.  Jumping Jack Flash, right on rock.  And Sympathy for the Devil is still the most evil rock song ever done.  Thought they might have made a lot of crap, I'll take their top ten hits against any other band if it comes down to doing Rhythm and Blues as being the defining moment of rock and roll - and at that -  the defining moment of rock and roll being Rhythm and Blues is Exile on Main Street.

Exile on Main Street, Beggers Banquet, Satanic Majesties Request, Aftermath, and of course, Let It Bleed.  Most band never get a greatest hits as good as any one of those records are worth.

You know, I was just being contrary - I know they're a commercial band, I like a lot of their music, and I'd probably have a really interesting conversation with Jagger about economics, since I'm into it myself.

Now Metallica, there's a real buncha sellouts! (and will she go for this one...   > )

Right, the alternate tuning is only part of it... however certain of his classic riffs almost fall out of that tuning naturally compared to trying to play them in standard.
