Hi Cassidy, welcome to Susans.  I'm also 28 and TS.  I'm curious about your history.  You did not say what you have done so far regarding being transsexual.  Anyway, it would be really nice if you posted a more detailed introduction about yourself.  There is a lot of information here, so look around at the forums and the Wiki here.

Who am I to refuse a request from a lady? :)
I wasn't sure how much to ramble on as i could go on for quite some time about myself but i think I'll fast forward through the oldold history and get to recentish stuff.
Started dressing in girls clothes at 8 or so(every chance i got)
Troubled teen years
Came out to my parents like 5 years ago and they were in denial for a long time> I let them remain there for quite some time(and moved back home due to financial problems) finally, i got so depressed(very very recently) it was reaching the point where I had to choose to do something or i was going to do something very bad. I chose to take the topic of who i am up with my parents again and I've been wearing/acting/being what I felt inside ever since. As far as hormones, i haven't started yet but am VERY anxious to do so. I also realise i have some other serious work to do(dieting not being the least of them) but im working on things slowly, with the advise of close friends. My timetable right now looks like 2 years(I hope...sounds longish though) or so to transition but I don't have any doubts anymore. I'm still very much in the expecting to wake up from a pleasant dream stage though, being yourself is very freeing! :D
Best wishs,

Hello Cassidy.

Let me add my welcome to the others.  As you have probably discovered Susan's is a very friendly place and we do our best to help all those who grace her doors.  Please be sure to read the rules and explore the site if you haven't already done so.  You say that you have an opinion on everything so it would seem that you will have no problems with taking part in the many topics that are discussed here.  Please feel free to post your own topics but try not to be offended by some of the replies you may receive, as you undoubtedly will get them and not everyone will agree with your point of view :)

There is no timetable to transition Cassidy.  Transition will take as long as it takes, an you do not need that added strain.  Having said that it's good to have a date in mind to work towards but don't fret if it takes longer.

Enjoy your stay here, and remember that we are here to help in anyway we can.

I am discovering this myself.  I set up my plan, but I also left room for flexibility.  I think rather than planning dates, planning milestones is a far better idea.  For instance, I was planning on start RLT at the beginning of next year, but I am probably going to change this to "when I start passing as female more than male".  The only thing I need to keep in mind is to give an employer plenty of notice.

I agree Melissa.  When I transitioned I gave my employer lots of notice and milestones that I expected for the upcoming year.  This gave them lots of time to review their policies on harassment, discrimination etc...  It also gave them time to prepare the workforce of what will happen.  They really appreciated it and it made for a great working environment, and a great transition.

Hi Cassidy,

Welcome to Susan's. As others have said there is no real timetable for transition. It takes as long as it takes. Goals are good too. Two years is reasonable but probably will take longer. Anyway lots of stuff to read and explore here so fix yourself a cup of tea or other relaxing beverage, sit down, take your shoes off and set a spell.

Good Journey,

Cassie

Hi, Cassidy, Welcome to Susan's!

I'm only out ot my doctors and SO but that will probably change when (IF?) I get my hormone letter. I guess Mom and Sis will be next.

Susan's has been nothing short of a wonderful resource for me in my quest for support, advice and knowledge.  I hope it becomes as wonderful or more for you as you read and explore.

Again, WELCOME!
