I only ask cause i have never bought art and really have absolutely no idea what I should offer her for it.

What amazing detail in that!!!  I agree I think it is worth more than $500.00 so I will gladly offer to buy it at that price then, unless someone comes along and tells me I'm stupid, or someone can affirm Im getting the "deal of the year"

Only thing I could find was that modern art was worth slightly more because it documents current art and therefore is more valuable in the short term.

How much would a frame cost? and would it require screws into the orig art piece?

Artists tend to frame things they want to see framed.  Consult them first.  Then have a professional art framer frame it, it should NOT require putting anything into the original piece of art.
