Well unfortunately no, (different countries and all that) though it would have been nice to have someone in meatspace to actually talk to. My dad is actually rather nice, I think if I tell him this he'd take it rather hard but he'll at least try to understand and support me. (at least I think he will if I tell him that it's not upbringing or anything it's genetic or something like that) Yeah I think they should end up as Darwin Awards before they are allowed to breed. That should be a requirement, at least one Darwin Award before they're up for a breeding license. :P

Thanks I'll try.

Kinda update, I told my mom last night that I had issues with my gender identity. (that's pretty much exactly how I stated it) She took it ok, though she kinda tried to explain it away (like she always does with everything that doesn't fit her mold of me being "the perfect kid") I'd love to just strangle her, hopefully she'll get it into her head that this isn't just "teen issues".

sometimes a person needs a little time to process something new to them.
  •

The_Little_Kid

Yeah some longer than others. In her case it takes roughly since time begins till time ends.

Good one.  You're definitely one of us.   :)

The_Little_Kid

Woot! :eusa_dance: That's a good thing right? Why am I one of you? (sorry kinda missed you on that one)

It'll be all right.  You're braver than me.  I've never told anyone outside of the forums.  I admire you.  I think you'll be fine, if my opinion counts for anything.

can i ask where you're from?  (i majored in geography in college, so i'm fascinated by this sort of thing...)

Oh it's not really anything, I just kinda have this tendency to say what I think and then wonder whether or not it was such a good idea to say it in the first place. (though I do use a tiny bit of tact when saying things, not much thought depends on my intentions) Yeah, perhaps, at least I now know that I won't totally be killed on site if I get something more concrete and it doesn't fit the traditional gender roles or something.

Yeah I'm from the southern part of Africa.

that line makes you one of us.   Instead of getting all down and pouty about it, you were able to blow off your mother's reaction with a jokey observation.

Nothing can stop you now!

Me too!  If I can't think of something nice to say, I just don't say anything.  Otherwise, it's the bitter truth.  I'm extremely direct.

If you weren't sure before, I can tell you that you fit in with us wonderfully.  :D  All from that one statement.

Hello Kid (the Little),

You are going to find out that your concept of yourself will
change as you explore your feelings and act upon them.

Try small things at first. Let your hair grow a bit and style
it a little differently. Let your nails grow some and have a
manicure. Try a different style shirt or pair of slacks. Try
a different cologne or even use a moisterizer on your face
or lip balm.

Nothing too obvious. Ask your female friends for suggestions.
They will be glad to advise you as to what is best for dry
skin or chapped lips.

Remember, take "baby steps".

If you try something and don't like it, set it aside and try
something else. Eventually, you will discover what is right
for you.

Therapy can be useful, but be careful when selecting a
therapist. Often they will string you along just to fill their
calendar or will want you to take drugs you do not really
need.

You might look for a support group in your area if you are
leaning towards gender blending or transitioning. There will
be someone you can talk to who has been through it all
before.

You are not alone in your confusion.

I've been looking for myself for over fifty years and am
still discovering new things. Some fit, some do not.

This forum is a great first step.

Calyx

Now THIS is some advice that I'm going to have to remember.

I've been taking baby steps in some areas, like writing style and a start at voice training.  But other steps need to be decided at some point in time.

Ah, yeah well if I got pouty and stuff about small stuff like that I wouldn't still have been here today. It sucks bad, but it's not the end of the world.

Hehe, personally I'm not really a geography geek, but I'm really into computers, and physics and stuff. (actually a crap load of stuff, I'm just a geek all round :P)

Well I'm not always as discriminating with saying stuff (although I don't like it to say stuff that's not nice) but I try to be. Though sometimes I make comments which aren't as tactful as they should be. (it's actually really interesting how you can say the same thing in ten different ways)

Well in that case I'm glad. :D

Just thought I'd tell you lot, yesterday morning/evening (depends on how you want to look at it) just before I went to bed my mom came into my room and told me that she didn't mean that she thinks that my gender problems are to do with hormones or just teenage thingies or something like that, it's just that she thinks it's possible to be one of those and while we where talking we just kinda gravitated towards that but she didn't mean it is definitely that. :D So then somewhere today there was a power outage and so I kinda went to her room and talked to her a bit till I could go back to my computer and I asked her if she'd accept me no matter how this thingy turns out and she said yes! :D (really happy about that) So yeah, I don't know if she just said that because she thinks/hopes that it would turn out that I'm just a normal guy, or if she'd keep to that just till it turn out that I'm not just a normal guy. But it's a start!  ;D

pretty good work for a little kid.     :)
  •

The_Little_Kid

Yup I'm also happy for me. And it's actually easily accomplished by a little kid, I just used the cuteness factor and gave my best puppy dog eyes. :D

May God bless, if only more parents were as consenting of their child's choise to be who they feel a real need to be.

Yeah, it would be great if more parents where accepting of their children's choices. I actually haven't told my dad, but I think he'll be ok with it too, most of the time he's more accepting of stuff than my mom is so I think he'll be fine with it.
