Suddenly, Last Winter

Gay partners Gustav Hofer (a TV presenter and short-films maker) and Luca Ragazzi (a movie critic making his co-helming debut) make a personal journey through the Byzantine world of Italian politics and into the dark heart of homophobia in the witty, niftily made low-budget docu "Suddenly, Last Winter." Film tracks how legislation giving equal rights to same-sex partners is quashed in the Italian Senate and doomed to redrafting limbo, while religious and far-right orgs stir up hatred against untraditional families. Although focused on contempo Italy, "Winter" would make a fine addition in any season to gay fests around the world.
