I had surgery 3 weeks ago and was just wondering how long the tightness lasted on you guys. The Dr. said it could last a couple of months.
How about lifting your arms above your head, the incesions are healing really well, but I don't want to do something to make the scars worse...Any input would be greatly appreciated :icon_biggrin:

I think it was about two or three months before I felt completely free to move any direction. Yeah, listen to what your body's telling you. I have some slight stretching in the scars under my arms, probably from movement, and I really tried not to do it. If it feels tight, ask someone else to reach it for you.

The whole area probably took 18 months or so before it felt normal - like numb spots and stuff.

Dennis, Thanks! I appreciate your input.

Jet3, Ya, it's the greatest thing that has every happened to me! It might be uncomfortable for a little while, but it doesn't even compare to how GREAT it feels!

Good for you Camden. I guess that it must be one radical change.
Congrats to you

My son is very psyched for his turn. 6 or 7 wks away.

Scars; they very often depend on your skin's properties but they can be somewhat affected by how you treat those healing areas.
This site has some simple info: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/05/22/earlyshow/health/main555189.shtml
Do a google on 'scar prevention' or similar and you will lots more info, patches, creams etc

Aside from the most common sense info you find tho, be sure to run your ideas by your doctor.

You're a good man Dennis,,,,,,lots of good info in your posts.  Thanks for that.....

Good luck, guys.
