I know it seems like this question gets asked quite often but I had some more specific questions regarding hair loss.

Ok, so I had some hair loss on my crown before HRT. I have noticed that some has grown back, it's longer now, but I still have to pull my longer hair back to cover where I don't have as much. Some of my friends tell me I am paranoid about it, that it's how my hair falls flat over the part, but I can't help FREAKING OUT and feeling like it's so visible. I'm FT in July and I need to start thinking about this kind of stuff.

I've been taking Finasteride since June of last year. Like I said, I have noticed some of it coming back. I would seriously, seriously FREAK OUT if I started losing more hair. So basically, I guess what I'm asking is, is it possible with a T level <10 and taking Spiro and Finasteride to STILL keep losing hair in a male pattern baldness kind of way. I just keep thinking what if somehow, some way my body is still going to make me bald and lose all of my hair.

Once I have SRS, is it possible to still have male pattern baldness? Do you think taking Finasteride AND Androcur could help. I know that the MPB is caused by the conversion of T into DHT, is it possible to still have enough DHT in my body to  hurt my head even with the medicine I take. Do you think taking a half pill or one pill in am and one in pm of Finasteride would help?

Any thoughts you have would seriously be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much, Meghan

I think you need to concentrate on your nutrition and excersice which can really help.

Sometimes are hair loss isn't related to hormones but rather stress, diet and excersice.

HRT can help hault hair loss caused by DHT and prevent it from progressing further. But it can't restore damaged follicles.

What that means is that excersice, diet, stress and massaging your scalp will play a role in restoring your damaged follicles. Follices that are already MAY have a possiblilty of regrowing but then that would mean that they really werent dead  :P...

Androcur is pretty "strong" actaully but it may or may not help you. Really depends on the individual.

I can understand your frustration since your going FT in july which is just around the corner, HECK- I would be pissed off!

T level 10 is pretty low, maybe a little bit too much. Make sure your estrogen levels are also in check...

Other than that, I don't really know what to tell you, maybe buy some products that add in hair thinning?

Coconut oil helps... :-\

Ms Bev

I had lost hair on my crown, and in the 'points' of my forehead.  Not waay too much, but enough for it to be unworkable without microtransplants.  Now, after years of hrt, with spiro, estrace,  estradiol, and rogaine, the hair has filled in almost suficiently on the crown.  It's still thin, but I style over it.    The forhead came forward a little, and the 'points', or 'coves' as it were filled in a little bit as well. I don't expect any hair loss from here on.

Sounds like I'm satisfied?  If I fell over a pot of gold, I'd get microtransplants the next week.  I'm never satisfied with my hair, even though I've seen of natal women my age with thinner hair (not very many) who looked enviously at my short hair style, and 'thin spots'.

So, you mileage may vary.

1.) If you're skating on thin ice, you might as well dance.
