Whether it is done two stages or one, there are medical practices that are followed, in alot of ways making it two stepped can be a better thing.

It will produce the most "real" looking hooded clitoris.

Most of the onesteps dont look like ladycats to me...

So Meltzer is $24-25,000.

I got a price from Brassard two years ago and that was $17,000US and change.

What about Bowers?

What is the average for Thai surgeons, or all they all fairly different prices?

Marci's price for 2008 is $18,500.  I don't know the exact prices for Thai surgeons.  I do know that Dr Suporn is by far the most expensive, mainly because of his reputation.  But a few others like Chet and Sanguan (there are others) do an excellent job as well.  And people have reported that their trip abroad with Chet and Sanguan cost less than $10,000 including surgery, hotel and other expenses.  The only fly in the ointment is that the dollar is tanking right now and I have no idea how much this will cause prices to rise.



edit: Dr Chet's site says $7,500 for SRS, $9,100 if an abdominal skin graft is necessary.

Okay, remind me to feel stupid later for saying this.  I am looking at the results page on Dr. Chet's site, and I have no idea if his results are good.  My first glance says no, they do not look normal, but then I realized I really don't know what normal is.  I haven't been with a woman in four years, and with the five women I dated in my life before transition, I never really STUDIED their vaginas.  I guess this is a testament to why a lot of guys never recognize a neovagina.

I see that Dr. Chet requires some genital electrolysis before SRS.  I don't think Brassard requires any.  This is a big difference to me!

It seems reasonable to me to say that considering how many TS's go to these particular surgeons in Thailand that visually speaking the appearance must be no different than the someone like Brassard or Bowers, and that the differences must lie in functionality and sensation?  How do you gauge results (which I hate looking at all these pictures, BTW) if you don't know what it is supposed to look like in the first place?

That brings up a good point.  Appearance in the natal population varies widely.  There is no one way it's supposed to look.  That is why I get worried when I see people obsessing over what it should look like.  I think as long as you go to one of the major docs, and don't obsess, you'll be quite happy.  I am.  Point two: You're right! Men don't have a clue.  They may think they do, but they don't.  As I said there is just too much natural variation out there for them to know anything.

Umm no.  That price, even if it's accurate, is only for stage one.  You can tack on a few thousand more for stage two.  Last time I did the calculation a couple years ago it was $23,000 total.  I have to believe it's only gone up since.

Most people dont even get the second stage... Thats why I say just for one stage,,,

After I posted $17,000 I went to the filing cabinet and found the info packet Dr. Brassard's office sent me in 2006.  It was actually qouted as $16,000 US, but of course that was two years ago.

Remember that the US dollar has lost 20% compared to the Canadian Dollar in 2 years which would explain to 16K in 2005 costing 20K now, since the base cost is probably established in Canadian dollars. So, for Canadians, no change in cost :-), but for americans, big change.


The same problem may happen in Thailand, don't know what kind of devaluation the Batt had compared to the US dollar, but its probable its at least 10-15%.

Many of you probably saw the topic about SRS in the Philly area, but Dr. Christine McGinn performs SRS for $16,000.  If you are on the East Coast, I would definitely consider her.  My consultation with her is on Thursday, but besides that~ I have only heard good things about her.

Ultimately, choose the surgeon you want... But also consider distance factors into the equation.  Being close to your surgeon is quite beneficial, especially if there are complications.

I'm a Meltzer's graduate and I couldn't be more satisfied with the work Dr. Meltzer did for me.  I haven't had labiaplasty (the second stage of SRS), and I don't think I ever will since my results are awesome just the way they are.

...and yes, Dr. Meltzer is pretty much booked up until the end of 2009 (or so I heard) unless some patient cancels her surgery and you can get it.  As far as his fees, well..I believe they are in the 25K range (for the first stage only), but they tend to increase every year.

Okay, I just got off the phone with Dr Meltzer's office.  So convenient that he has a toll-free number (866-876-6329).

His fees for 2008 are:

First stage:    $21,620

F/U labiaplasty $5,000

total              $26,620 



And according to the office the current waiting list is:

ONLY 3 months long.

Those prices are a bit crazy in comparison to other surgeons.  But 3 months wait is definitely not bad at all ^^
